Has anyone ever won a slam beating just one top 20 player along the way?

Hingis at Wimbledon 1997? Australian Open 1997?

Why couldn't Shvedova have won yesterday? At least then we'd have got more lulz.

Serena beat two in 2010 (Na Li and Sharapova). I'm too lazy to check older draws but I'm sure someone on TF will do it anyway.

Remember when Serena losing was fun. We always pay in the end. Yeah, this final is...not interesting. But as I said on Twitter (they were putting Windows 7 on my computer), I will take Petra's result after how crappy her year has been.

But, Monica will be presenting the trophy. That's reason enough to watch the final. ;D I don't like Monica either! Get Myskina and her brood back. I'm not satisfied with Petra's result. I didn't necessarily expect her to win, and I'm prepared for her to become the kind of Venusian top player who only comes alive halfway through the year, but letting Sharapova start dominating this rivalry, and acting like she has no idea what to do against her, is ridiculous after what she did at Wimbledon.

I mean, at the AO and Stüttgart, you could at least make a convincing case that Petra SHOULD have won those matches, and only needed slightly better concentration to do so. Today, she wasn't even in the match. She got WORSE, not better.

The Chlad was pretty young then, wasn't she? I remember assuming she'd be part of the teen wave. Well, she did make another Slam second week (was the beneficiary of STEVENSON TOP 16 SEED at the AO '03). Davenport was responsible for some wacky Slam QFists around this time. Linda Wild. Kimberly Po. 1997 was such a horrible year. The one match I wanted Hingis to win, she lost. IVA

Post by DBBN on Jun 7, 2012 16:03:55 GMT -5
I feel that story requires at least another sentence. Part of my job is to maintain a fairly massive plaintiff database for one of my cases, and track their activity statuses in preparation for statistical reports. This requires a large amount of copying and pasting from dockets into the database. But sometimes I have to copy and paste things here too and I was just running a report and entering data into fields and out of the corner of my eye I saw "Appelmans, Sabine" in one of the fields and I was like "well I do want to get fired" but I of course fixed it. Given the large amount and furious speed of cutting and copying and pasting and filing and multiple windows on two monitors I juggle for 8-12 hours per day, it really is a wonder I haven't filed draws or pasted into some field yet.

I LOLed because it is truly my #1 concern.
I can definitely say I have never filed anything with the court that outlandish because (a) I check that shit over about 13 times before clicking Submit and (b) I'd have heard about it...a lot...from lots of people. There could very well be wacky shit in one or more databases though.

Do it Hurley. I want to hear about how Maja Palaversic Coopersmith got served with legal papers because of a clerical snafu.
I've only inserted some mildly psychotic things into lab reports (was watching Bowling for Columbine while writing up a physics experiment) and I have to search my presentations and reports for "fuck" and "shit" before submitting, but because it's academia, maybe only 3 people will ever read it. :cheer:

She hits her BH pretty late, and it's not a natural stroke at all. Many people just can't hit one. Myself included. Her FH is solid. Similar to Nadal and Henin with how violently she whips to get topspin. It's hard to time every shot correctly hitting like that. Also, she has a big grip FH to BH grip change, which makes returning tough.
