Anna K was #42 at the time.
BUT:
R128 H2H Kremer, Anne (LUX) 218 W 6-4 6-4
R64 H2H Barabanschikova, Olga (BLR) 80 W 6-2 6-2
R32 H2H Arendt, Nicole (USA) 53 W 6-1 6-3
R16 H2H Appelmans, Sabine (BEL) 19 W 6-1 6-3
Q H2H Chladkova, Denisa (CZE) 57 W 6-3 6-2
S H2H Kournikova, Anna (RUS) 42 W 6-3 6-2
F H2H (3) Novotna, Jana (CZE) 3 W 2-6 6-3 6-3
I didn't think Sabine was still hanging around the Top 20 then, my bad!
I almost entered APPELMANS, Sabine into a class action database against her will
That sounds like so much fun.
Do it Hurley. I want to hear about how Maja Palaversic Coopersmith got served with legal papers because of a clerical snafu.
I've only inserted some mildly psychotic things into lab reports (was watching Bowling for Columbine while writing up a physics experiment) and I have to search my presentations and reports for "fuck" and "shit" before submitting, but because it's academia, maybe only 3 people will ever read it. :cheer:
@ having to review reports for fuck and shit.
Yes. Back then, I was horrified at the prospect of a Croat winning a Slam.
A slightly embarrassing memory.
Iva won RG *gulp* 15 years ago. Geez.
And on Sunday you'll be horrified at the prospect of a particular Serb winning another Slam.
I've never heard that before about the backhand not being a natural shot, but it's interesting you say that because I can not hit one for the life of me (well my one-hander works much better than the two-hander) - and I have the same issue as Stosur about grip changes since my forehand is essentially a two-handed lefty backhand.
I've tried by keeping the same grip and having two hands off both sides with the left hand dominant (although I am right handed), but off my backhand side I feel most comfortable with a one handed backhand (right hand). Ofcourse, grip changes with this are a nightmare.
Wouldn't it be fair to attribute at least some of Stosur's horrific shanks to the conditions/shot selection. The wind was giving very awkward bounces and on a couple of points we saw Stosur run around the backhand and try to hit a forehand and end up shanking it because she wasn't in position and had no business htiting a FH.
