Was Serena the betting favorite from the start of the tournament, though? I'd have thought it was Maria.
Anyway I'm still not giving up hope that she can lose.

I think Serena was the betting favourite.
Not only has Maria never won b2b Slams, but she's never even gone on an extended streak of dominance - start of 2008 and this clay season are the closest she's come. Didn't see her winning this.
I don't see how Serena can lose with her serve like that. It's just...completely impregnable.

Unfortunately she's always gotten better and better as these tournaments progress. But you never know, she might get all nervous in the final. Old Hag always said it gets much harder to control your nerves as you get older.

After Kerber's pending double bagel, you gotta start moving matches into CC, right? Start with the active matches (Fish-Tsonga and Radwanska) and then keep piling them in until curfew.
They can't NOT do this, right?
...Right?

I assume they'd move Tsonga to CC since it's the last 4R match. But, Bimbly is stupid.

Kerber hasn't lost a point on her serve yet. 4-1.

Starting to become a fan of Kerber tbh. Same here! She is so enjoyable to watch when she is playing well. And I still can't really get used to her transformation to a legit top player! She's got broken now, though.

Although I do seem to remember some matches being moved around.

Rain has stopped for now anyway.

They're playing again, so it's moot. I do wonder if they'll try getting all the Ladies QF in today if it rains.

Kvitty losing to Serena is disappointing but not surprising, obvs. And yes, even I knew where that serve was going on setpoint. The thing with Serena is, insane serving aside, she always plays well and "brings it" against the top players. It's the randoms that trouble her - most of her recent losses have been shocks or whatever. If she plays Azza in the SF, she'll destroy her. But I'd imagine Paszek would be a tougher match. What does it matter? Serena's winning this. Wertheim posted in his mailbag or something that a former top player told him that if Serena doesn't win Wimbledon, she's never winning a Slam again - this was after the RG loss.

I'd forgotten about the Kirilenko scream. And when you're barely - BARELY - hitting harder than Radwanska, that makes you an asshole of the highest order.

YES! YES! All aboard Kerber train, please! She makes a refreshing change after rooting for Kvitty. She's less talented, but also much less stupid.
