Probably the better result overall. I think Aga can and will win a Slam at some point, though.

Nice effort A-Rad and well done Silliams.

Much more entertaining afternoon than I expected. Aga made Silliams earn that, and she rose to the occasion superbly.

First 3 set GS final since like whenever I can't even remember.

It's NID SEWTA in the end, but made for an entertaining watching for a while. The 4 aces game was the key, she was not losing serve again even if the match had to go 55-53, and Radwanska knew it.

I really thought A-rad had a chance.

I had to think twice for that one too - my first instinct was 2010 AO Serena d. Justine.

Yeah, definitely. A-Rad had to suck a lozenge just to get through the post-match interview, I think she was welling up through both illness and emotion, but it was good to see - showed for once how much she wanted it.

It was really nice a year ago when Kvitty won and we all thought she was going to be good.

Oh no, an awful person wins the mixed doubles either way. Who is a worse human being out of Paes and Huber?

Huber. We only have hearsay re: Paes. Huber we have seen in action.

At least Paes is an amazing player. Huber is not.
Let's hope Lisa/Mike win then.

It's Paes/Vesnina vs Huber/Bryan (don't know which Bryan, don't care). Supporting the former as Vesnina is the only player on court I have vaguely positive feelings towards. Obviously Vesnina just got broken to love.

Um, what was wrong with Serena's serving today? 17 aces is way off.
I don't know how Rad got a set. I woke up, saw it at 6-1 3-1, turned off the tv, and went back to bed.
Just heard Brad Gilbert saying that 18 Slams of Evert and Navratilova are easily obtainable. Well ... yeah, maybe if you're thinking ability-wise. But this is Serena! Nobody knows what she's going to do. It's worth remembering that it has been two years since her last Slam win. No reason to think there won't be another fallow period after this ...
I hate this year. It's been Maria and Serena winning everything for a good solid four months now! Fuck!

Yay Vesnina won. Brad Gilbert says that last night she went into the ESPN studio to have him sign a Russian copy of his Winning Ugly book, and it was all highlighted and footnoted. You could make many sarky comments but bless her <3 <3 <3

I'm fine with Silliams winning stuff. If only she'd prevented Maria from winning stuff. I hope that happens now.

I hate this year. It's been Maria and Serena winning everything for a good solid four months now! Fuck! Yeah, it's been a very bad year to be the type of fans we are. Only Ali has the contentment provided by Maria's incredible victory over Sara Errani to win RG. My one solace about Serena is that at least these days, I'm convinced that she does have to work hard. No more weeks/months of parties and tv-watching followed by a single week of practice, then waltzing into a Slam out of shape, only to win it. And the thing about today's match is, if Serena had somehow continued to choke in the 3rd set, it is still 100% certain that Aga would have out-choked her at the very end, what with the vision of a Wimbledon title looming over her head. I'm glad it didn't end that particular way.

Only Ali has the contentment provided by Maria's incredible victory over Sara Errani to win RG. And I'm not even a fan! She's just the lesser of all evils since I root against the Sistahz, Radwanska, Azarenka, Stosur, Wozniacki. There's no one left to root for! Kvitova is #1 for me but she's been useless this year.
