I was going to watch this just now, but then decided to go read some of my book instead.

Ree staves off 2 breakpoints to hold for 4-1. WTF.

LOL Tracy Austin, saying this is a career year for Sharapova makes her look even worse.

The only woman to a) break Serena and b) win more than four games off her was...URSZULA RADWANSKA.
Everyone else Serena played was a former Slam finalist at the very least.

This is just embarrassing. What a waste of a match. Serena's serve is awesome obviously but even weaponless A-Rad took a set off her. Even tiny Zheng Jie stayed competitive with her off the ground.
With Ree and Serverer's displays this week, I don't wish for Bimbly to return to the faster courts of before.

one game?? How can it be? Beloved Mother Russia let down with a thud by her most darling Floridanized daughter. No gold for you! Congrats to Serena, though. I guess it would have been a shame for her to end up with 0 gold medals in singles. I don't enjoy seeing her get everything she wants these days, but at least now she's working for it.

Well, that was worse than I thought.
I know the bitch is pretty much unbeatable with that serve, but come on, Maria. One game?
MAIL HER THE US OPEN TROPHY, PLEASE, AND THEN CANCEL THE FUCKING TOURNAMENT.

MAIL HER THE US OPEN TROPHY, PLEASE, AND THEN CANCEL THE FUCKING TOURNAMENT. Meh. You never know. If anyone on tour is prone to the drama and absolutely bizarre things happening to her, it's Serena.

Seriously. 2009, 2011. Something about NYC gets to her.

I wouldn't be surprised if she lost to Iveta Benesova in R2 and then won YEC dropping 5 games en route.

Seriously. 2009, 2011. Something about NYC gets to her. Yes, but we can't keep getting that lucky. Believe me, I would love to be wrong. But ... I guess I'll say this: if she is going to lose at the USO, it's not going to be to Azza or Maria. Those two must cower at the thought of her by this point. If Serena loses in New York, it'll be a surprise loss to somebody nobody is giving a real chance to.
