From 3-5 down in the third, too Vekic won, though! 0 and 2 over an in-form opponent, and firmly into the top 200. Still on board with her as Future WTA Saviour. Cepelova beat Min 6-4 in the third, Min looked devastated afterwards. She probably should have won given how badly Cepelova played.

The Devil Child lost to terminally awful ITF scrub Floris 6-1 6-7(7) 5-7, from 6-1 5-1 up, missing 1MP along the way That is an AWFUL loss in every respect but the sad thing is it was predictable enough that I put money on it (along with Khromacheva).

Even after blowing that 5-1 lead, Putintseva apparently had a match point serving at 7-6 in the tie-break.
Putin also had a 3-1 lead in the third.

Vekic beat one of the Pliskovas 1 and 2 That's pretty huge. Still on the "Vekic will save SEWTA" bandwagon.

Despite not knowing Portuguese, I think I can understand from this that Miss Larcher is the latest to blow a big lead in these USO qualies. What makes it worse is that she lost to a junior:

Ahahahahahaha from 5-0 up in the second set? Anything Putintseva can do, MLDB can do better Svitolina is meant to be good though. @benrothenberg Michelle Larcher de Brito loses, collapses to her knees in tears, then walks off wailing, sobbing without shaking any hands. #usopen #dramaElsewhere, Keys lost easily to Ormaechea. I don't get it with Keys at all. Final qualy round, potential debutantes bolded. Only one guaranteed and most of the rest with tough draws. It won't matter as long as Vekic wins *bandwagon* (1) Magdalena Rybarikova vs. Anastasija Sevastova (2) Yung-Jan Chan vs. (32) Tatjana Malek (3) Jana Cepelova vs. Nastassja Burnett(4) Eleni Daniilidou vs. Samantha CrawfordVeronica Cepede Royg vs. Anastasia Rodionova (6) Lesia Tsurenko vs. Irena Pavlovic Donna Vekic vs. (25) Edina Gallovits-Hall Johanna Konta vs. Shuai Zhang Catalina Castano vs. (26) Kirsten Flipkens Saisai Zheng vs. Julia Glushko(11) Lara Arruabarrena Vecino vs. (31) Alexa Glatch Elina Svitolina vs. (21) Valeria Savinykh Olga Puchkova vs. Dia Evtimova(14) Paula Ormaechea vs. Alla Kudryavtseva Heidi El Tabakh vs. (27) Stefanie Voegele Maria Sanchez vs. (18) Kristyna Pliskova Goooooooo: Sevastova (with a LL spot for Magda please), Latisha, Rare Breast Cepelova, Crawford, VCR, Tsurenko, VEKIC, Konta, ewwww neither, Saisai, LAV, Svitolina, Evtimova, Alla K, Voegele, Sanchez goooooooo.

Yurika Sema choked supremely as well. She was leading 62 41, double break up and lost to Gallovits-Why is she still playing-Hall. Gooo Castano!! Why is Cepelova nicknamed Rare Breast? Even after looking at her photos I don't get it.

It's nothing to do with her, Hurley referred to her at Wim as a rare beast who'd qualified for a Slam before he'd heard of her, Leena misread it as "rare breast" and it stuck.

On the men's side, given my fascination with junior stars turned pro flops, I am intrigued with 21yo T-H Yang -- former world jr #1 and 2008 RG champ/AO RUP who never got higher than the mid-150s.
