This one sucked also.
I don't get the point of these matches.
I know, it's the 2 recent legends and all. But, it's like a teenager being able to kick the crap out of his dad. And then taking it easy on him. It's just awkward.

True, but it's Asia. Just about any players would sell. And I'm sure both had to be paid very handsomely to do this.

Sampras Stuns Federer in Exhibition By MIN LEE – 6 hours ago MACAU (AP) — Pete Sampras showed Roger Federer another side of his American idol on Saturday. Sampras never faced a break point and converted one of two against his opponent as he handed Federer a 7-6 (8), 6-4 defeat at the Venetian Macao arena, wrapping up a three-match Asian exhibition series between the two tennis greats. Sampras downplayed his victory, noting Federer was coming off a long season and that he was helped by his big serve and the fast indoor carpet surface. He had only aimed to win one set during the three-match series. "Let's not get carried away," he said at a news conference. Sampras ruled out a comeback from retirement, telling the audience after the match, "I had my time in the 90s." Federer tried to put on a positive spin on the loss, saying he wasn't embarrassed to lose to his idol, but still showed some disappointment. "It's been tough beating my idol the last two times. I'm happy that he got me at least once," he said, but adding, "I hope we can do it again in the future. I'd like to get him back." The two players have won a combined 26 Grand Slam titles, but Sampras, 36, retired five years ago after winning the U.S. Open in 2002. Twenty six-year-old Federer is fresh from another stellar season as he won three Slams and last week's Masters Cup in Shanghai in compiling a 68-9 winning record. "I'm sort of surprised. This guy can play tennis, you know," the Swiss player said after his loss Saturday. Federer beat Sampras 6-4, 6-3 in Seoul on Tuesday and edged the American 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5) in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday. In Macau on Saturday, Federer was able to outhit Sampras early but the American held his own with the powerful serving and crafty volleying that helped him win seven Wimbledon titles. The first set went on serve. In the tiebreaker, Federer had set points at 6-5 and 8-7 but Sampras saved both. The American went up 9-8 on a missed return by Federer then took the set with a forehand return winner on the Swiss player's serve. Federer ran into trouble early in the second set, falling behind 30-40 in the third game, but recovered to hold serve. At 4-4, Federer fell behind on his serve again. A forehand error gave Sampras break point, which he converted with a forehand winner. Sampras held serve again the next game and closed out the match on a Federer backhand return that sailed long. Federer said he thought Sampras could still beat the world's top five players on a fast surface. Sampras predicted Saturday that Federer could beat his record of most Grand Slam wins "if not next year, pretty soon." "He's a great, great player. He's got things in his game that I couldn't do," he said.

Pete couldn't beat Roger in a real match. When's the last time you saw Roger hit so many balls mid-court, and serve so short (without angle) and spinning it in on firsts? . He played him so he could do whatever he could do, like a good teacher. The only stuff Sampras won legit were about 80 percent of his own good first serves. Still, Roger expected to win all 3 but didn't. You can't lay your game down and then pick it up at will.

It's obvious these matches weren't on the up and up... first off, Pete went to net EVERY chance he could, and Roger only would hit to his feet in the later parts of the set. Also, Roger never would have given Pete so many chances to hit his forehand.
Not that Pete doesn't still have game. The serve is still a weapon, and he can hit the forehand. He'd probably still win a few matches on tour.
But, his "win" over Roger is a joke.

EL MASTER INTERNACIONAL DE TENIS BANESTO, in MÁLAGA Friday: Dave Ferrer vs Pablo Martín Feli López vs Vampiro Massú Saturday: Carlosh Moyá vs Ferrer or Martín (not sure why Carlosh got the bye when Ferrer is ranked way higher, but hey, it's meaningless) Rafa Nadal vs López or Massú Sunday Ze final. Nice to see that Rafa's professed inability to run due to painful legs is not preventing him from playing meaningless exhos. Pablo is a 19yo prospect who trains in Mallorca with Nadal and Moya.

Top seed Danai Udomchoke reached the semi-finals after he defeated India's Vivek Shokeen 6-3, 6-4 in the Yellow Group of the of the LG Asia Cup at the LTAT National Tennis Development Centre, Muang Thong Thani yesterday. The Thai, who is ranked 115th in the world, needed only one hour and 30 minutes to finish off the Indian in two comfortable sets. It is his second win in as many matches.
''It was a good match but I have not yet regained my confidence,'' said Danai, the reigning Asian Games champion, who will next meet Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan in the final group match.
''Istomin is a good player with a good serve but is also errror-prone and makes a lot of unforced errors.''
Thailand's Weerapat Doakmaiklee failed to advance to the semi-finals when he lost 6-1, 6-4 to South Korea's Im Kyu-Tae.

Borg Elbowed Out Of BlackRock Masters By Tennis Week Friday, November 30, 2007 Five-time Wimbledon winner Bjorn Borg won't be playing a London rematch with rival John McEnroe. Borg has been forced to withdraw from next week’s BlackRock Masters Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall in London because of an elbow injury. The BlackRock Masters Tennis is set for December 4-9. The 51-year-old Swede sustained the injury in Frankfurt earlier in the month, and pulled out of the event in Sao Paulo the following week. He hoped to recover in time to play the season-ending event in London, but said his elbow condition has not sufficiently improved. "I am really sorry that I won’t be able to play in London, but I injured my elbow earlier in the month and also had to pull out of the Sao Paulo event last week," Borg said. "I did everything I could to be ready to play at the BlackRock Masters Tennis as I was so looking forward to playing. The event is in London, one of my favourite cities and where I won Wimbledon so many times. All the players want to play at the Royal Albert Hall as it's such an incredible place to play tennis and it would have been a special feeling to be there, so I am really, really disappointed. I definitely want to come back to play the tournament next year as the British people are great and it is a fantastic event." Borg’s wild card will now go to former top 10 player Wayne Ferreira. The South African played more than 800 singles matches in a career that spanned 16 years. He holds the record for the most consecutive Grand Slam appearances, having played in 56 Grand Slam tournaments in a row between 1991 and 2004. He was a Wimbledon quarterfinalist, won the title at the Queen’s Club in London in 1992, and holds a winning record against current World No.1 Roger Federer. He joins [OMG! ] John McEnroe, Goran Ivanisevic, Pat Cash, Henri Leconte , Michael Stich, Sergi Bruguera, Guy Forget , Cedric Pioline, Paul Haarhuis, Anders Jarryd and Jeremy Bates in the BlackRock Masters Tennis field. On Tuesday night, Tim Henman play in a special charity match against Stefan Edberg to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
