Bahahahaha this Ernie meltdown, and in the middle of it the umpire just casually drops a time violation.

I just discovered that a lot of good players who lost early here are playing in an ATP challenger in Dallas.

Dmitrov survives a deuce service game. 5-2. I thought this was an old post, but it's happening right now! Forgot to change my settings to Daylight Saving Time.

I just discovered that a lot of good players who lost early here are playing in an ATP challenger in Dallas. Yes, it's an awesome field. Kind of like that women's Bahamas challenger which it turned out nobody got paid for.

Nole serving now at 5-6 so that he can win the tb and have a good laugh.

Grigor gave Novak back the break with 4 DFs in the game. He also DFed on the first point of the TB.
As I tweeted, maybe he and Maria are Meant To Be.

I think maybe the players got paid, but not the tournament staff? I can't remember exactly.

Nole serving now at 5-6 so that he can win the tb and have a good laugh. He must be rolling on the ground laughing after that set. But he didn't fool any real tennis fans, I'm sure (not even Maria). I do seem to have some super-vague memory of staff not getting paid post-Bahama event.

Nice 2nd-set wilt from Grigor? Not watching, so maybe it was just JesusNole, but for some reason I assume it was a wilt job. Maybe I don't quite think of Griggy as a FiGHTER!!1!!!!1!! so far ...

I definitely don't think of Grigor as a fighter. DFs, eh? Well...closest he's got to a Big Four player, I guess.

I just discovered that a lot of good players who lost early here are playing in an ATP challenger in Dallas. That happens every year. And they used to play Sunrise during Miami.

If they do that every year, I wonder if any tennis fans plan ahead to attend there. I wouldn't mind being there myself this week. For a minute I actually imagined that Wuss could turn that 2nd set around.

One point ended with back-to-back drop shots leading to a Rafa passing winner (I think the deuce point) and Rafa won the game by stopping play and correctly challenging a missed baseline call.
Anyway Rafa did win 4-6 6-4 7-5 but the last game was quite insane as well, as Rafa had 40-0, then missed a super-easy swinging volley (I gay gasped) and then DFed (I screamed) before closing it out on the 3rd MP.

There was a strange moment in the Roger-Stan match. Third set, 1-1, 0-30, Roger serving. He hits the out-wide serve, comes in for the reply, nets a half-volley. But .... then he tries to challenge the serve! They don't let him. He gets mad. Serve was out. Question was whether Roger was only hitting the volley out of reflex. I ... kinda think if he had made the shot, he wouldn't have challenged his own serve.

I saw Maderer but I didn't know what precipitated it. He called out the supervisor! (Lars Graff!!)
Rafa got mad too! He got a coaching violation. A linesjudge had ratted him out. But then he claimed the linesjudge couldn't have known what they were saying because they were speaking in Catalan, not Spanish! Or something.

Hey, shouldn't Ernie go into an 18-match losing streak now?
Roger put a ball right on the line that I think he framed on BP at 4-4. Things were mighty close out there!
So we get the Rafa-Roger QF with neither looking so great.

But then he claimed the linesjudge couldn't have known what they were saying because they were speaking in Catalan, not Spanish! Or something. That seems like a flimsy excuse. I'm not sure why Rafa cares about the coaching violation call. They will never, ever default him for it or even go beyond the warning stage.
