It's Birnerova's slam to lose! Meanwhile, I am liking the Stakhovsky game. Off-topic question for Boreas: Is there really a curse in Slovenia that means "300 hairy bears", as I learned on a travel show last night? Haha yes, an outdated curse which these days is only used as a mockery. We have instead adopted shorter curse words from Ednaland:) They sound harsher than 300 hairy bears.

Second set to Stakhovsky! He's hit some great touch volleys today.

STAKHOVSKY TAKES THE SET!!! This could be the ultimate upset of the day. Darn, Paean. I wanted to add 300 hairy bears to my curse vocabulary. Anyway your country is so beautiful! A thousand times nicer than its size-mate New Jersey.

I've been to Ljubljana! (I had to fit this in somewhere!)

STAKHOVSKY TAKES THE SET!!! This could be the ultimate upset of the day. There will be no uspet. We've had our fun but Roger will win the next two sets. It's the SEATP Playbook.

I quite like it too. It's very green and anywhere you go in this country you're still basically in the woods and among the bears. A few years ago one came to Ljubljana and you bet that was the most excitement the people there have ever had. They reacted as though it was a Godzilla, not a bear.

Too bad Ali wasn't there that day!
Jankovic really, really has to win this match.

I'd be happy with Shitra, JaJa or CAKE in the final. Which means none of them are making it.
Stakhovsky misses a 0-30 chance on Roger's serve. But now he has BP!

Some of the SPs JaJa missed...the shanking, the terrible volleys.

Jankovic really, really has to win this match. When I wrote that she was up 5-3! And ended up losing the set. To The Hair, sheesh!

So ESPN moved over from Federer to watch Justine McHale serve for the set against Cake. She won not a single point in that game. So we're back to Fed.

Shankerer arrives, and means Stakhovsky will serve for the 3rd set... JaJa is down a set and a break

JJ is probably the favorite now in the bottom half. She's in the best form of the seeds remaining. So, of course, she'll lose to Vesna Dolonts.

Stak takes set 3 and is playing GREAT. Upset still on course, but of course anything can happen. I'm not ready for Fed to go out, but if this guy can keep this up, then good for him.

Federer will win this in five sets. Jinxer! I refuse to get excited over nothing. Stakhovsky is the Benneteau of 2013. CAKE wins the first set.

Men's bottom half of doom!!! That's one set away from Almagro, Paire and Janowicz being the only seeds left for a SF spot.

And Stak gets the early break. This is happening, folks. He's just the better player out there today.

The break still means NOTHING. That would be true in women's tennis. Men are rarely so fragile-headed. Have you been watching the way this guy's been playing? Oh! Good to see that Cake fought back and took the first set. No need to lose her today, too; enough is enough.
