He's definitely getting in the HOF with 1 slam, #1, a few finals and angloness. Yeah. I don't think it's a question he makes it in with the slam and #1 combo. Until recently, on both the men's and women's side, #1 meant basically a sure thing into the HoF. Slamless number ones have complicated this on the women's side. If it was just Rios, I think everyone could write it off and not really bat an eye at him not getting in.

Davis Cup plays into it, too.

But ... if you let in Andy, it makes it hard to leave out some other people. Ivanisevic, say. Maybe Moya. The multi-Slam threshold provided a pretty good threshold.
But if you consider the era, then there can be no doubt. Andy would probably have three or four Slams if not for Federer. And that's a low estimate.

What also puts him in over other players you mentioned is that he is a household name, a celebrity.

Oh, I thought I posted in here about my former favorite player's retirement. I'm not sad because he's barely been playing and/or winning that much and he seemed to have stopped really caring so whatever. Time for gay porn career!

He wasn't completely washed-up, but I think he was totally done competing at the top ten level. Losses to Ferrer on grass should make a man like Andy really think ...

They're all getting in.

And SUKOVA.

Sukova did win a bunch of doubles slams. She was also tall, which is a bonus.

A bunch of doubles Slams should not be enough, though. And she was the pre-Venus type of tall player: tall and sloooowww. Of course that's still the main type of tall player.

If Roddick got in, the guy who should have beaten him at the USO final had it not been for scheduling favoritism should too! Speaking of which...
Ferrero has finally heeded the Cult's persistent chants of "TTR! TTR!", and will retire after Valencia (Oct. 20-28).

JCF and Guga - what memories! Two guys I can't recall having ever rooted against in a match.
As for Roddick, I have to agree with Hurley. Besides Federer and then Nadal (I'm talking of mid 2000s before Nole and then Muzza truly surfaced), Roddick was one name many non-tennis fans knew of from the ones I came across.
