I haven't noticed that but it could be. We won't get into movement and footwork.

Lena is on the entry list for Estoril qualies. I thought she was granted a special entry ranking?

She does. But, Estoril is a favorite tournament of hers.

I know that. But her special rank should get her out of qualies.

I didn't read the qualies part. I don't see how she'd be in qualies, regardless... her ranking was still in the 60's when she entered.
Oh, and:
JANUARY - Withdrew from Gold Coast, Hobart w/right shoulder injury, and from Australian Open w/left shoulder injury.
MARCH - Withdrew from Indian Wells w/right shoulder injury.
I'm guessing the left shoulder again, for Miami.

Ranking cutoff was from rankings updated right before IW. Her rank was in the 80s then.
I saw her injury update. Just saying she broke her back would be easier.

If anything, she'd probably get a WC to Estoril. After that, who knows.
I kinda don't want the protected ranking, anyway. Win some scrub tournies.

I think she has Hep. C.

Lena is on the main draw entry list for Prague. Looks like she's starting small in her comeback.

Remember, she also entered Gold Coast and Hobart.
I don't know why she wouldn't get the protected ranking.
But, whatever. Hopefully she FINALLY does come back, then kick some Pennetta/Smashnova loser tushy in the scrub clay events.

If she doesn't come back at Estoril, I won't know what to think. That would be like V/Ree skipping Miami.

Estoril - Champion. Prague - 2nd round. Rabat - Champion. Roland Garros - 3rd round.
I still believe.

Let's do a Compliment Sandwich.
POSITIVE: Elena is pretty.
Negative: Elena is retired.
POSITIVE: Elena has a big serve.

She doesn't have a big serve.
And she's not retired.
I am the only person allowed to celebrate her impending Estoril victory, now. Go cheer a real retired player, L. A. Davenport.

Only about a month away until my favorite player returns.
I can't wait to cheer her again. As customary during her matches where I watch the scoreboard every point, I listen to my emo music. Usually Yellowcard.

Good luck to Elena in her comeback attempt. I hope she stays healthy and has good luck on her side for a change.

She's training hard for her return in Portugal.
She's on a strict diet, and has ripped abs.

Now I'm getting really antsy for Giant Barbie's comeback. The lapse of time has faded the memories of my drift into lukewarm fandom; all I can remember now are her triumphs, which amazed and delighted me, especially that first title, which broke the dam for the Russian women (but why did so many of them have to pass her? Where's the gratitude, I ask you! )

They don't get injured like her!
It's 4 straight years now that Elena has basically missed at least half the season. Sigh.

Janie, I'm sure the other Russina's such as Maria Sharapova show Elena gratitude for helping open the floodgates of Russian titles. I think it was a wise decision for Elena to return to action playing on the physically very forgiving red clay courts. Leelee, are you sure Elena has ripped abs? I hope she does. But even though ripped abs look great they are just something else Bovina could injure. And if all else fails blame Joe Guliano.

No. I'm just hoping Elena is working out really hard, and is super buff. But, that is very unlikely.

From a 3/29 article about World Team Tennis' Sportimes team: " .... The team also named former player Chuck Adams as its coach. Last year Joe Giuliano led the team to a league title, but he has since been barred for life by the WTA after allegations of sexual misconduct.
"WTT changed its coaching policy to honor that ban."

Elena got up at 2am this morning, and runs around Barcelona for 6 hours. Then, will play 18 hours of tennis. Her training is difficult, but she is a champion. And she's serious. Like the Williams' ladies.

Lena is on the Strasbourg qualies list. Playing qualies might be fun. It has a Marissa Irvin Fun House feel to it.

Elena is probably out of Estoril already.
I will remain patient, though.
