She should jump into the top 250 now, so US Open qualies are lookin' good.

I hope she'll play Cincinnati and other hardcourt WTA things.

Lena lost 60 36 36. I think she must have finally run out of steam. Still a good week; hope she won't backtrack from here ...

I assume she'll play Biella next. Another clay $100k, but a lot weaker field. Important stretch coming up with the Olympics bunching all the scrub events together.

A 3rd set TB loss to Cetkovska, and a few weeks later, she reaches 4R of RG. A win over Alla, and 3 weeks later she defeats Mariabot on grass. A bagel over Garbin, and she wins the tournament.
So close. Yet, so far away still.

This higher ranking will help her, though. Looks like she's been bumped up into the main draw for that Biella 100K, because the top seed in the qualy draw is Pliskova, who was several spots below EB on the entry list. Not having to play qualies will really help her now that she's started to beat those lower players regularly. At least I hope so.

Biella is very winnable if we keep up the form we had last week. I will try to tone my excitement.

She's in the qualy field in Portoroz -- a WTA event at last! I hope she'll show up there.

I'd rather have seen her play both. Now I'm just hoping she'll play this and then get over to the US for some hardcourt stuff.

Should have been easier, but fine.
Lucic disappointingly lost to a lowly Brit, so the dream matchup is avoided.

Bovina def. Elliot 6-4 6-7 (5) 6-2.
This is the first time Lena has qualified for a WTA main draw since 2002.

Zurich! Where we choked lost!
But, she hasn't qualified yet. One more match. Versus Martinez Sanchez, which will be far tougher than the scrubs she's defeated so far.

Oh, my bad. I thought this was the last round. Yeah, this is a tough one coming up, and Lena's scores thus far aren't encouraging.
I think Lena should have played the California tournaments. The qualifying fields are always weak, plus there's more ranking points involved, and more $$$. She usually likes that.

I think she should be playing challengers.
She finally got ranked high to get into the MD of most of them... and then we play WTA events, and start all over.

I disagree. Qualifying at so many of these WTA events is pathetic, especially now in the US (which is sad, given that in the past many of them have had amazing fields). She probably could get through to the final Q round in most of those. From there on, it's all luck. Look at the Woz.
