I've been feeling the SERBIA in this tournament. I thought we might see Jankovic vs. Ivanovic and Djokovic in the men's final, but we got 2/3 of that (and let's face it, the better, cuter, more aggressive 2/3). I think Ana's gonna mix it up and hopefully get the drama going like in the semis. I wanna hear Maria screaming in agony and desperation.

I'm expecting a close match between Ana and Maria. I would love to see Ivanovic win a grand slam singles title but not at Sharapova's expense. I'm rooting for Sharapova because it's time for her to become a great tennis player. Masha has only shown greatness in spurts in her career. But I think Ivanovic will win 6-4 4-6 6-3 because she's playing fearless tennis in the clutch and Maria has all the pressure on her to win the title. And the fact that Masha has won 6 easy matches at the 2008 Australian Open will hurt her in a close match because Ana is close match tough while Masha isn't. I also think Masha's second serve is more likely to break down than Ana's second serve. I hope it's an exciting match and that there is no controversy or questionable sportsmanship in tonights final. If Collins is courtside that means Pam Shriver isn't working the women's final and that's hard to believe since ESPN2 had Mary Jo Fernandez, Mary Carillo and Pam Shriver doing the commentary along with Dick Enberg's play by play of the Sharapova/Henin quarterfinal match. I can't see Carillo, Shriver or Fernandez not wanting to work the Sharapova/Ivanovic final in prime time American television coverage. |

Ugh. I need to make my decision now. I'm completely exhausted and have a shitload of writing to do this weekend - so basically either I drink coffee now and stay up to watch two miserable sets of UEs, with Shriek winning; or I accept that's how it'll be, go to bed now, and wake up to find I've missed a three-set classic which went like 19-17 in the third with Ana winning.

I heard it's hot today in Melbourne. That's an advantage for Ivanovic because Sharapova sometimes wilts in the heat. Wilow is back for the women's final.  |

Jesus Christ, Sharapova just doesn't miss. Obviously prolonging the rallies and moving her around is not going to work today. Ana has to win points on first strike and she's not good enough for that at the moment.
