Thanks Choupi.
Guga is still talking optimistically -- "If I am able to play two or three games at a high level today, then four next week, sooner or later I will be able to play that way for the whole match."
He also says he is still lacking conditioning and was fatigued in the second set. But in general he feels better on the court this time than after his initial surgery.

I found my excuse !!!!!!
"An unfortunate incident in the seventh game may have also unsettled the Brazilian. Attempting to intercept Henman's serve at 3-3, 15-0, Kuerten saw the ball fly off the frame of his racket and then hit the baseline judge in the eye. Kuerten ran across the court to apologise as the other officials gathered round the linesman, who adjusted his sunglasses and signalled that he was ready for play to continue."
Whew!
I must say I would have hoped he would work with someone more versed in attacking tactics than Gumy. But hey.

Guga will not play any tournament until mid July playing the clay court tournaments after Wimbleton.
I really feel there's still something wrong with him physically on top of mental problem.

This is old news, but...
Kuerten returns to Brazil's Davis Cup team
RIO DE JANEIRO, July 1 (Reuters) - Former world number one Gustavo Kuerten was recalled to Brazil's Davis Cup team on Friday after an absence of nearly two years caused by political in-fighting and injury.
Kuerten was named in the team for the American zone Group Two tie at home to the Netherlands Antilles in Joinville on July 15-17 in what is effectively the competition's third division.
Kuerten's last appearance was against Canada in September 2003, when Brazil were beaten and lost their place in the World Group.
"I'm very happy to be playing in the Davis Cup again and I'm looking forward to representing Brazil, which has always been one of the big motivations in my career," said Kuerten in a statement.
"We're going to try and resurrect our tennis and getting back to the second division will be the first step."
Brazil slipped into Group Two last year after losing ties to Paraguay, Venezuela and Peru.
The defeats came as Kuerten led a boycott by the top players in protest at the administration of Nelson Nastas, who at the time was president of the Brazilian Tennis Confederation (CBT).
Kuerten also underwent hip surgery last year, returning to the circuit in April.

Since the boycott, all the Brasilians are in a slump. Guga had surgery, Sá and Saretta :red: and Mello was good for a few months but in another slump.
Hopefully, all of them will turn around with the return to DC.

Although I love the curly mop of Guga, it's time to have a trim. Actually, the whole DC team needs a trim, IMO.

"It's not easy, but this match does not make me sad. This year I am only trying to get myself into shape, to play a few tournaments, to keep up my motivation and get ready for next year. I believe I still have a chance to play well and be successful at any tournament. That is the goal that keeps me going day-by-day." -- G.Kuerten

"John McEnroe has called Nadal the most exciting teenager to hit the scene since Boris Becker won Wimbledon in 1985, but until now all of Nadal's eight career titles have been won on one surface -- clay. Still, his last two hard court efforts showed his game may not be as limited as some former clay court stars like Gustavo Kuerten and Sergi Bruguera. Guga apparently had treatment for his neck yesterday, which became quite painful during the Armando match and got worse and worse, he said.
