Nice job by Hinske as a lefty on that tater. Agreed. Halladay threw the most outstanding pitch ever to Sheffield one pitch after Gary fouled one off to near-homer heroics. A curveball that totally froze him for the K. Take that, Big Unit. The Yanks are 5 games under .500 for the first time since 1997 ... the last year they fell short of the playoffs. Still a murderous portion of the schedule for the 13-11 Jays. Two more with NYY, then 3 at Camden ... I wouldn't be unhappy with a 2-3 record in those games. Though the Jays face a rookie pitcher today ... I hope for a win.

Now we shutdown Baltimore.

Blue Jays left-hander Gustavo Chacin named AL rookie of the month Canadian Press May 3, 2005 NEW YORK (CP) - Toronto Blue Jays left-hander Gustavo Chacin was named the American League's rookie of the month for April on Monday after going 4-1 with a 2.41 earned-run average in five starts. The Venezuelan left-hander allowed just 26 hits over 32 2-3 innings pitched, striking out 18 while walking just eight batters. Chacin got the start Monday night in Toronto's 6-2 win over Baltimore in 12 innings, but didn't figure in the decision. He allowed two runs, seven hits and five walks in 7 1-3 innings. The 24-year-old's best outing was April 16, when he surrendered just two hits over eight scoreless innings in an 8-0 win over the Texas Rangers. Other AL rookies considered for the award were: Chicago second baseman Tadahito Iguchi (.333, 26 hits, nine RBIs), Tampa Bay outfielder Johnny Gomes (.300, five RBIs) and Oakland outfielder Nick Swisher (.218, three homers, eight RBIs).

He pitched well again last night, and I hear the Orioles have a decent offense. However, he does look like Elena Baltacha.
I am so sure the Jays will claim 2/3 from this series now. The win yesterday cements this. Try for tonight's game, if we don't win, bring back Halladay to knock 'em off for the series. Then they can beat down the Central for a while.

Wasn't Towers acquired by Zellers in 1990? /me is confused Yes, and Zellers was acquired by Rogers, and the Rogers own the Jays and he was transfered through the system. He pitches and earns adulation now.

So does the Boss pull the trigger on Torre this week? The Yankees are playing like Serena Williams. The Boss is gonna replace him with George Costanza! Brinyi, the Expos are in first place. It must be the senescent Frank Robinson that is leading them to this amazing success!
