"Phil Mickelson is the People's Champion" = the other one who wins all the time is black.

Etc... etc... even Tigre back in the day didn't get those superlatives. Just because he's a surly dick. That would be a good reason, but he definitely did get those superlatives, and many, many more. He was treated like God; how can you forget? It was nauseating to me, so I know how this Phil praise must feel to you guys. I'm just glad I don't hate both of them.

"Phil Mickelson is the People's Champion" = the other one who wins all the time is black. Past tense. One lousy win since 2009, but even that was enough for him to be placed immediately as the big favorite for the Masters, as we saw. After all, God always bounces back!

Oh not Bubba. Please, God, not Bubba. Not Bubba and his new store-bought baby.

Bubba is legit fun to watch at least. Good winner. I fear he may be spoken of as the next Phil, though.
And the last few holes with Phil were intolerable, as usual. After the triple bogey, OH PHIL WILL COME BACK BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HE DOES. After Phil is 4 shots behind, OUR PHIL ONLY NEEDS TO HOLE OUT FROM THE FAIRWAY AND BIRDIE EVERY OTHER HOLE AND HE CAN DO IIIIITT. MEANWHILE THIS NOT USIAN IS AHEAD OF HIM AND LETS NOT EVEN SHOW HIM. OH LOOK, A LEADER HITTING A SHOT, LETS SHOW PHIL HUGGING HIS FAMILY FOR 5 MINUTES. HE IS SUCH A FAMILY MAN AND SO AMERICAN AND EVERYONE LOVES PHIL. WOW HE WAS SO POSITIVE IN POST-ROUND INTERVIEW, WHAT A GUY. HE'LL WIN NEXT TIME. BLAHAHAHAHAHA
They openly root for Phil. It's so damn obnoxious.

AUGUSTA, Georgia (AP)—Sergio Garcia thinks the only major title he’ll ever have is this: best player never to win one.
Garcia told Spanish reporters after a dismal third-round round at the Masters that he doesn’t think he’s capable of winning a major, and he didn’t back off the comments Sunday.
“Everything I say, I say it because I feel it,” he said. “If I didn’t mean it, I couldn’t stand here and lie like a lot of the guys do. If I felt like I could win, I would do it. Unfortunately at the moment, unless I get really lucky in one of the weeks, I can’t really play much better than I played this week. And I’m going to finish 13th or 15th. What does that show you?”
Just 19 when he had a spectacular showdown with Tiger Woods at the 1999 PGA Championship, Garcia was supposed to give Woods a fight for the title of greatest player of their generation. He’s hardly been a washout, with 10 victories on the European Tour and another seven on the PGA Tour.
But he’s never quite lived up to his star billing, either. At 32, he’s now 0-for-54 in the majors.
Not that he hasn’t had chances. He finished in the top 12 at the last three majors of 2011, and went into the third round at Augusta National a stroke behind the leaders. But he took himself out of contention with a 3-over 75 that left him eight strokes back, and then unburdened himself to Spanish reporters.
“That’s the reality. I’m not good enough and today I know it. I’ve been trying for 13 years and I don’t feel capable of winning,” Garcia said. “I don’t know what happened to me. Maybe it’s something psychological. … After 13 years, my chances are over. I’m not good enough for the majors. That’s it.”
Garcia got off to a rough start Sunday with a double-bogey on the first hole. But he rebounded with back-to-back birdies, and finished with a 71 that left him at 2 under for the tournament.
But for yet another major, Garcia is heading home empty-handed.
Asked what he thinks is missing, Garcia said, simply, “Everything.

They have the same cup size too.
Garcia's quotes remind me of Dementieva's....right before she retired.

Phil will go away soon to Geezerland. He's nearly 42, the wall comes at about 45, and Phil is a fatass so probably sooner than that. Can't wait.

Well, well well! Augusta National Admits First Women Members, Condoleezza Rice and Darla MooreABC NewsBy ALEXANDRA LUDKA | ABC News – 4 hrs ago After decades of controversy, the all-male Augusta National Golf Club has admitted its first female members, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and business executive Darla Moore. The prestigious Augusta National Golf Club is best known for hosting the Masters Tournament and the exclusivity surrounding the green jacket club. Augusta National Chairman Billy Payne called the selection of the two new members "a joyous occasion" and a "significant and positive time in our club's history." "These accomplished women share our passion for the game of golf and both are well known and respected by our membership," Augusta National Chairman Billy Payne said in a statement. "It will be a proud moment when we present Condoleezza and Darla their green jackets when the club opens this fall." Rice, who served as secretary of state under President George W. Bush, said in a statement released by the club, "I have visited Augusta National on several occasions and look forward to playing golf, renewing friendships and forming new ones through this very special opportunity." Rice's statement did not mention her ground breaking role or the club's long refusal to admit women members. "I have long admired the important role Augusta National has played in the traditions and history of golf. I also have an immense respect for the Masters Tournament and its commitment to grow the game of golf, particularly with youth, here in the United States and throughout the world," she said. Moore is the vice president of private investment company Rainwater, Inc. and founder and chair of nonprofit think tank, the Palmetto Institute. "I am fortunate to have many friends who are members at Augusta National, so to be asked to join them as a member represents a very happy and important occasion in my life," Moore said in a statement. "Above all, Augusta National and the Masters Tournaments have always stood for excellence, and that is what is so important to me." Since its inception in 1932, Augusta National has been embroiled in several heated debates for not allowing female club members. The debate heightened in 2002 when Martha Burk of the National Council of Women's Organizations pressured the club to admit female members. The club's chairman at the time, William "Hootie" Johnson resisted, saying famously that women may one day be admitted to Augusta National, "but not at the point of a bayonet." The statement represented both the resolve of the club not to crumble under pressure. The issue surfaced again in April when Virginia Rometty was appointed chief executive of IBM, a corporate sponsor of Augusta National. The CEO of IBM was traditionally admitted as a member of the club, but Rometty was not granted membership. Another of Augusta National's club sponsors, AT&T commented on the historic admission. "As a sponsor of The Masters, we applaud today's historic announcement by Augusta National and warmly welcome Condoleezza Rice and Darla Moore as members of Augusta National," said AT&T's CEO Randall Stephenson. news.yahoo.com/augusta-national-admits-first-women-members-condoleezza-rice-152946840--abc-news-topstories.html

I don't understand why any woman would want to be a member of their haughty sausage club. Unless you just want to play the pretty course, then tell them to piss off.

So this is coming up soon, starts April 11, and I am sorry to report that Tiger's back at #1, just in time. Oh, well, his prolonged fall from Idol of the World was danged fun, and I relished every moment of it, knowing it wouldn't last. It actually lasted a lot longer than I would have dared to hope it could. Meanwhile, I had completely forgotten that Augusta ended their NO GURLZ!1!!!!!1! policy last summer.

I'm so annoyed, I was going to take Friday off and watch, and then veg out all weekend watching, but now April is going to be my Hell Month so I'd have to be actively dying to not go into work. Then Saturday I have a 30th birthday party to attend, and then Sunday I'm looking at apartments with my past-and-future roommate. WHATEVER.

aww But at least the Sunday part is for a good cause, finding a good apartment to live in again after this purgatory era in college-land. And surely you'll be home in time to watch Tiger's Big Finish, Kiss of the Anointed Elin Replacement, Redemption, and Re-crowning as Emperor of Earth. I'm glad I still have one sportsperson left to Hate. Tennis has really let me down in that department in recent years. Sure, I can't stand Ma$ha or Sylvia Williams, but I just don't think about them much. Very weak sports-hate.

It is really going to be terrible when Tigre wins another slam, especially at The Hallowed Grounds of Augusta TM. And I'm not even a hater, well at least to your guys' level. I'm at the point of anyone but Tigre or Fat Phil.

Many things I did not know when I opened this thread.
A: the women thing. For some reason, I am annoyed by the official statement from AT&T. Why would they be applauding the club for this? It's just embarrassing for them that they didn't do this 100 years ago.
B: Tiger is back at #1? What the hell happened? Did he go back to fucking 89282 hos? That seemed to make the magic happen in the past.

AT&T is a big sponsor of the Masters this year. It's about jewgolds, and Augusta being the most uptight assholes in existence.
Tigre is good again, and he's won a bunch of tournaments. But, none that we care about yet.

You know, every time you think tennis is stuck in the fucking past, look at GOLF. Augusta National makes the Wimbledon geezers look like flaming pinkos. Indeed. It's really embarrassing. I wish someone would step up the Masters' nonsense, for once. In order to work with the Masters', you need to kiss their holy ass. That's the only reason for AT&T's comment.
