I suspect that in their greed, the Yanks rescheduled the game on an open date so he could maximize the gate receipts. Evil Empire

The Yankees suffered another awful loss yesterday. And all this is coming when Giambi is like 15 for his last 20. He's batting .321, which for him is amazing. Pettitte didn't have a good start, but that bullpen was awful. And stupid Rivera couldn't even keep Boston to just two runs. He now has a 12.15 ERA.

First time they've lost 7 straight since...2000? I think?
Rivera is done, for realsies.

Now they're 1-5. And they WILL finish April in the cellar.
The Jays' loss of the 2nd game against Texas was so brutal I cannot even get over it. Why the FUCK would Gibbons intentionally walk Sosa to put the tying run at third base with just one out? Stooooopid!!!!
But they won yesterday, so I'm placated. A bit. They need to win tonight too and salvage the split.
Boston is 16-8 but I have trouble believing they are as good as all that.
The Diamondbacks are back! They lost 5 in a row and 7 of 8, and now have won 5 straight again. They lead the West. May that continue, although I'm hella sick of Eric Byrnes.

I'm into the "new" theme today. This is a new month and a new start for the New York Yankees. It's vital they turn it around starting today the first month of May.

Halladay was quality as usual.
A.J. Burnett has lost a three run lead in Cleveland. I'm not sold on him. Nice hair, bad attitude.

I remember him when he was with the Mets and then the Marlins before he went to Toronto. You think he should be a better pitcher than he is. But he isn't.

Another D-Backs fan here? Yay!
I mostly cheer for my favorite players, though. Who are all having great starts to the year.
Alexander Rodriguez (SOON TO BE OUT OF NYY UNGRATEFUL ASSHOLES) Adam Dunn (CIN) Pronk Hafner (CLE) Bob Abreu (NYY) Matthew Holliday (COL) Randall Johnson (ARI) Carlos Quentin (ARI, WHEN HE GETS TO PLAY MORE).

Not so much this year, though. I need him to get out of this slump.

Sasha dear, how can you leave Yankee captain Derek Jeter off your list? And Bobby Abreu should be off your list for bunting so much. A hitter who bats third should not bunt as often as Abreu does.

Ugh. Clemens again? I hate that money-grubbing fatso.
This is too far for George. I hope this tactic bombs too so that this type of situation stops occurring. The A-Rod situation ended up being palatable, but I can't imagine this fucking turncoat coming back AGAIN going as well.

Even if Roger sucks horribly, it won't stop anything.
It's not so much buying the expensive players that bothers me about MLB... it's that the few rich teams like the Yankees, Sawks, Cubs... if they miss on a high priced FA, they'll just get another, and keep trying until everything works out (exception would be the Cubs).

Definitely.
Roger doesn't even hide that he doesn't give a shit, and really doesn't want to pitch. He's fat, lazy, barely trains. But, he's still really good. In a way, he's like Serena Williams. Except a lot smarter.
If you could make $20+ million working part-time, choosing which games we want to play, we'd all do it.

That's twice in a minute. You really want me to hurt you. No Leelee I don't want you to hurt me. But what did you have in mind? I trust I will redeem myself in your eyes with this salient post about the Yankees. I'm a long time New York Yankee fan and it repulses me to see the Yankees give a 6 inning pitcher like Roger Clemens even though he's an all time baseball great a prorated 28 million dollar contract when they stiff Mariano Rivera also an all time baseball great and Yankees great on his contract extension and only offer Yankees great Bernie Williams the veterans minimum salary when they still need his bat for depth in the outfield and at DH. it bothers me that the Yankees braintrust caters to Clemens and ignore Rivera and Williams.

Pavano could be headed for elbow surgery By RONALD BLUM, AP Baseball Writer May 6, 2007
NEW YORK (AP) -- For nearly $40 million, all the New York Yankees might get out of Carl Pavano is five wins.
While the Yankees were completing an agreement with Roger Clemens this weekend, they were learning that Pavano could need elbow surgery that would sideline him for most if not all of the remainder of his four-year contract.
Pavano was examined Friday by Dr. James Andrews. While damage was found in the elbow, the ligament was not torn, a Yankees official said Sunday, speaking on condition of anonymity because the team didn't make any announcement. The team would like Pavano to try to rehabilitate without an operation, but the oft-injured pitcher was leaning toward surgery, the official said, speaking Sunday before New York's game against Seattle.
"I talked to Pav a little bit today. We're talking about starting a throwing program out there and trying to pitch," Yankees manager Joe Torre said after a 5-0 win over the Mariners. "He's not sure at this point in time on shutting it down."
Gregg Clifton, Pavano's agent, said the 31-year-old right-hander sounded discouraged when he talked with him briefly. Clifton said he didn't want to comment on the possibility of surgery until after he spoke with Andrews on Monday.
Recovery time for elbow ligament surgery usually is 12 to 18 months.
The likelihood of elbow surgery was first reported Sunday by The Hartford Courant.
"My feeling is, he is hurt," Torre said. "Now, are you supposed to feel 100 percent every time you go out there? That's not possible. But, again, I guess it's the nature of the injury that really dictates what you can deal with."
Pavano is 5-7 in 19 starts with the Yankees, who signed him to a $39.95 million, four-year contract before the 2005 season. He went 4-6 with a 4.77 ERA in 17 starts with New York in his first season, then was sidelined from June 27, 2005, until last month by shoulder, back, buttocks, elbow and rib injuries.
He made his first two starts this year, going 1-0 with a 4.76 ERA, but started feeling forearm soreness during his second outing, a win at Minnesota on April 9.
"I was of a mind that these are muscles he hasn't used for a while. It didn't seem to alarm him because he went out and pitched a couple more innings," Torre said. "So this really was a surprise to me."
Pavano cut short a bullpen session Wednesday in Texas, then scheduled an appointment with Andrews, who removed bone chips from his elbow in August 2000 and May 2006.
"When you take pictures of pitchers' elbows, if they've pitched for any period time, you're going to find flaws," Torre said. "It just goes with your profession."
During his long layoffs, Pavano was regularly ridiculed by New York media, and teammates lost confidence in him.
"There was no question there was grumbling in the clubhouse," Torre said, "but I felt in the spring when he went out there every time it was his turn, that that stuff was sort of on hold."

You really didn't need to post all that about Carla Pavano. That's like saying Elena Bovina is injured, but even more obvious.
All players do what Clemens does, in a way. Except Clemens is the only guy who can get away with waiting until mid-season.
Bernie Williams? Come freaking on, the cat. He should be thankful the Yankees even kept him around the last couple years, where he was nothing but a detriment.
