I checked out the scenarios in GoDom's Excel sheet. If Tina loses in three sets, then she needs Justine to beat Amelie to reach the SF.

I would think JHH would beat Amelie anyway, but Martina should too.

Martina breaks for 6-3. ;D

I want Tina to win, because I know how pissed Mauresmo will be to lose to Hingis.

If Sharapova ends #1 in her group, which she almost certainly will, she'll play either Amelie or Martina in the semifinals. If Martina wins this match, she and Justine are the two semifinalists from the Yellow Group.
The Kuznetsova-Clijsters match will likely determine the second semifinalist.

A 6-1 second set. And now a BP for Amelie to start the third.

At least Hingis got her set, but I'm worried that if Mauresmo starts playing well she might have a chance against Henin. Grrr.

Okay, I leave for like 20 minutes and we're in a third set? What the fuck?

Mauresmo breaks for 2-0 in the third. This match is so over. Tina won a set, so there's hope yet for the SF.

At least Hingis got her set, but I'm worried that if Mauresmo starts playing well she might have a chance against Henin. Grrr. AND the big problem is that since JHH is already qualified for the semis, she will tank to Mauresmo. Hopefully not having to play Sharapova in the SF is impetus enough for her to try to beat Amelie, but if I had as many injury problems as Justine, I doubt I'd overwork myself in a relatively meaningless match.

Minor controversy as Hingis' final challenge fails, that was out and 3-0 to Mauresmo, Hingis on her way out it seems...

Interestingly Hingis goes 40-15 up and has two break points in this game, the tiredness has disappeared...

Tina saves three matchpoints and breaks for 5-3.

And now Hingis has the advantage after a comedy of errors sees the tired Hingis overcome a nervy-looking Mauresmo on that point...

Tina holds for 5-4. This is so insane. Mauresmo to serve for the match again....

Martina misses a breakpoint. It's deuce now.

Mauresmo survives a near-choke, winning 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Hingis was visibly tired, but Amelie kept choking. It's been a good year, Tina. See you in Melbourne.

For those of you who question why the WTA doesn't promote Amelie, watch this match. There's a difference between playing with variety, and playing like a pussy.
Too bad for Martina. She had a ton of chances in this match, and just didn't take them. It doesn't help that Amelie got lucky with netcords on a few of them.

Oh, Justine needs to win a meaningless match? That's not happening. Oh well. She wouldn't expend much energy in a 6-2 6-1 win.

It's not a meaningless match. It's the difference b/w playing Shara in the semis or the finals.
Ju never tanks a match anywayz, and she has alot of motivation to win every match and especially to win against Momo.
Meanwhile, KC is looking mighty good, and Sveta looks to be heading for her 2nd loss tomorrow.

It isn't entirely meaningless because there are ranking points on the line, and the loser probably gets Marina in the SF. But, it still is because the goal is to win the tournament and get the cash.
Justine never tanks, but she has a history of not playing her best in exhibitions.
And RR does blow. It's unnecessary for tennis. INDOOR GRAND SLAM, PLZ.
