Wow, it's so nice to have the top 8 players duking it out. This is nice. I hoep JHH wins, in straights and finishes atop her group so she doesn't have to face Sharapova in the semis. Shara is tough, but Henin can take her.lol. Granted, it will be hard beating a ball-blaster who's almost a whole foot taller, but it's JHH.lol.

Btw, why is Dementieva utterly useless at this competition ... Because she's just not that good. And I'm a big fan of hers.

Unfortunately for my prospects of pints, it seems to me that if Tina makes the semis Amélie probably won't, and vice versa. Ok, but right now it's Justine and Nadia who look like they'll be in the semis. The only one who has a clear edge is Justine. If Petrova loses to Justine in straight sets, and Hingis manages to take a set off of Mauresmo, she's probably in. If she beats Mauresmo, she's in.

I think Demented can be good enough... but, she plays a ton during the year, and in indoor season to make sure she qualifies. Most players who do that, struggle at the year end event.

Very probably. Who do you see topping Maria in 3 years. Justine isn't going to keep this up much longer. KIMMIE will only be playing Antwerp, Hasselt, and Fed Cup by 2008. Willies? Lolz. The other current Russians have proven they can't do shit against her. None of the current crop of kids have a complete enough game to consistently challenge Maria, as most are just crappier clones of her with glaring weaknesses. Before the Linz final, I thought that Maria would just be one of several players fighting for major titles in the void that the Tour is going to be in the next 2-3 years (with Mauresmo, JHH and Clijsters gradually slipping out of the picture), along with Kuznetsova and veteran dark horses such as Petrova or Schnyder and other players like say Jankovic who could go deep into big tournaments if the draw opened up for them. Now I tend to agree with this.

That was last year. This year she played a total of 8 matches during the whole indoor season, compared to 13 in 2005. I think Lena losing all the matches at the YEC, where all her opponents are ranked higher than her, is to be expected.

Wow. This is a big win for Tina. I certainly didn't expect it. I think she has a decent chance against Amelie, but it's certainly not a given. My only concern at the moment is that Tina might be tired, this being her third consecutive day of play, both of her matches so far having gone the distance. Or worse yet, having a letdown after an emotional win? Loved the reaction at the end: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dv5zodUwdOI

6-4 2-2 for JHH
"Petrova finds the net from the baseline and again practises bouncing her racket off the floor... she's quite good at it!"

Is she definitely in the SF? Like if she loses to Mauresmo, and Hingis beats Mau...
Oh. ;D

My Eurosport scoreboard is red. I'm assuming that means the match is about to start.

JHH avenges the Berlin loss to Petrova.
Last time JHH lost two matches in a row to the same player was February 03 - Clijsters in Sydney/Antwerp

I haven't been paying attention enough to the tiebreakers.
Does Martina only need to win a set to reach the SF.

4th service break in a row.
Hingis to serve at 3-3.

If Hingis wins a set, I think she automatically qualifies if Henin beats Mauresmo tomorrow.

I haven't been paying attention enough to the tiebreakers. Does Martina only need to win a set to reach the SF. I'm not too sure myself. If Amelie wins today and then loses to Justine tomorrow, then she, Tina and Nadia will all be 1-2. It would come down to sets, I suppose, where Hingis has won 4 sets (2 sets against Nadia, 1 each against Justine and Amelie), Nadia has won 3 sets (2 against Amelie and 1 against Tina), and Amelie will have won 2 sets against Tina and 1 against Justine which would make it 3 sets. Yep, if Tina wins a set, then she needs Justine to beat Amelie to advance to the semis. Or I think something like that.

So if Hingis qualifies, who is she likely to play in the 1/2F?
