whata sursprise f@ckface fed disagrees with the criticism of the scheduling. yiu would mate, having 5 days off. He hasn't even been part of the tournament which has had some fabulous matches, Moya-Henman, Hewitt-Djoko, Baghman-Djoko, Roddick-Gasquet and he'll turn up in his blazer and walk away with the trophy
there making Gasquet play at 12 tomorrow

Justine's interview is up, she doesn't know what happened, but lots of praise for Marion. Well done, Justine; very classy way to take a tough loss.

Q. 1-6 in the first set to the No. 1 player in the world. How did you come back?
MARION BARTOLI: To come back?
Q. Yes .
MARION BARTOLI: Well, to tell you the truth, as I said on BBC a few minutes ago, I saw Pierce Brosnan in the crowd, which is one of my favorite actor. I love his movies.I said to myself, it's not possible I play so bad in front of him. Because he watch me and I play so bad it was unbelievable. So I try to feel it a bit more the ball, play more smartly. I saw he was cheering for me, so I said, Oh, maybe it's good. I kept going and I won, so maybe a little bit for Pierce Brosnan.
Q. TV personalities like Cliff Richard in the earlier match, does it not distract you having celebrities in the crowd?
MARION BARTOLI: Well, I was focusing on Pierce Brosnan because he is so beautiful. I was just watching him. He was the only one.

Q. Probably the most distinctive thing about your game, other than two hands everywhere, is the accuracy of your groundstrokes. Not necessarily the hardest in tennis but the accuracy is amazing. Are there drills you've used over the years to become such an accurate groundstroker?
MARION BARTOLI: When I was younger, still living in France, we didn't have any indoor courts. The indoor courts we had was multi surface courts. It was the courts for volleyball, basketball, tennis. They have some multi lines all over the courts. My dad used to put me some targets. If I touched the targets, I get a candy. So I was very motivated. Maybe that's why I'm still loving too much the candies. But whatever.

Even though I normally like Fed, these 2 weeks I've found him increasingly insufferable. He's had so much good luck but he doesn't seem to be aware of that. And the gold trim on the outfit is -- I don't plan to join the Fed-hate party, but he's not helping his cause at all this week, and I wish like anything that he would LOSE.

Wow, it's a good thing I had to train a new guy today. I don't know how that happened, but congrats to Marion! Wimbledon finalist, and up to #11. I love her! She's great! But...Justine, Justine, Justine...

It's not so much that Bartoli blisters the ball past her opponent, but she gets it very deep with movement on it, and it just makes them look really awkward, which in turn sets up the big winner. And she was standing about three feet in on Justine's second serves. I remember when she first came up, all anyone could talk about was her return stance. I saw her play Davenport at the USO 03 and she was midway between service line and baseline to return Davenport first serves. Which was mental, and she got whomped, and then she backed off a bit, but it's nice to see that her old eccentricities can still serve her well. I remember seeing her returning serves from almost her own service line during her stalwart junior career.

Has the Bartoli win been on TV yet?
I just don't get how this happened... I saw their Eastbourne SF, and Marion actually played decent there. And lost like 1 & 4.

Missed all of the excitement. SportTV showed Nudd-Ahl first. The wind was blowing Nudd-Ahl's moonballs all over the place, and Berdych looked as if he was playing on grass for the first time in his life. Gave up after the end of the first set.
FFWD to Fed. Run of the mill stuff from Fed, occasionally brilliant, often sloppy.
First women's SF. Woeful. Windiest match I saw since the 2006 IW final. Nearly impossible to serve properly. Venus played about 60% of what she played against Maria. After a while, Ivanovic began hitting only FHs, and the success rate was about 2 huge winners for 3 wild errors.
The end. SportTV stopped the broadcast. No Nole, no Gasquet, no Marion.
Good to hear Melo and Sá are on a roll. Vamo' 'bora! Vamo' 'bora!

BTW I hope you realise the temptation to make fun of Henin just like you make fun of Maria when she loses is very, very big. Go ahead, enjoy yourself! This isn't wtaworld. People aren't going to freak out if you bash Justine or anyone else. I'm a huge Justine fan, but I enjoyed laughing at her myself today. In other news, maybe Bartoli's Dad is not one of the bad ones after all: The world number 19, whose previous best grand slam run was the fourth round at this year's French Open, said her victory was reward for her father Walter.
"He's a very good doctor, a very good coach, a very good father," said Bartoli, who now lives in Switzerland. The fact that le bon Walter is a doctor, a stern, eccentric French doctor, makes me think of Amélie, that French movie. He even looks a little like the doctor dad in that movie.

I'm not sure where the idea he was a baddad came from. He obviously doesn't make Marion train or diet that hard. He looked completely stunned when she won.

A couple people have seen her dad train with her on outer courts. He apparently works her very hard, and treats her like shit. But, yeah, can't be too hard since she's always been a bit soft. Although, with the 40 tournaments she plays per year, maybe she's just big boned.

I didn't notice rudeness from him, but what I disliked was that his "training methods" were exactly the same as those of the Rezais: bucket of balls, throw them around for her to hit. Nothing else. But of course only Arsalan gets shit for being a former car mechanic who doesn't know dick about tennis, while Doctor with a capital D Walter Bartoli is apparently exempt from such criticism.

That year when I saw her play in Oyster Bay and USO qualies, I saw him work her like a dog on multiple occasions, before and after matches. She was definitely not as thick as she is now, for sure. I also almost ran them both over once. True story.

Marion does not possess the imagination that would cause her to start freaking out; she's not thinking about what this win would mean. She's a sturdy girl in that way; she's excited to be in this match, right now, and she's playing that way. This reminds me of descriptions of Marshal Joffre. He was utterly unflappable because he didn't do much thinking. A bit like in the title of that old Spanish song: "Solo los estúpidos tienen la conciencia tranquila."

The biggest surprise slam finalist since.... ? Tauziat? No, this is bigger. Notes as I finally got to read the thread: 1. Nole is eight zillion times hotter than Marcos. I love Marcos, but come on. 2. If Bartoli is playing Seles-esque tennis, how is she doing well at Wimbledon? Think, people, think.

Also, RODDICK LOST TOO! Bad day for me, but meh. I don't like having other things to think about; it makes me care less about the things that matter, like tennis, movies, and vodka.

But I am pleased for , as well as Marion. They are both tres cool; it's just too bad that their triumphs will lead to trophies for Federer and Penis I hope Marion gives her a run tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath.

I always thought Sampras played great because his mind was so blank. Especially compared with Agassi; you could see the wheels ceaselessly spinning in Andre's head when he played. I loved watching Sampras play, but I never understood why people would want to "meet" the athletes they liked to watch -- how the hell could Pete be interesting to talk to??
