no since Mauresmo at the AO You are right. In fact, that is pretty eerily similar.

Kinda similar. Amelie showed signs of being a top player eventually (that Berlin final when she was like 18, and those were the days when runs like that never happened), but she was wildly inconsistent early in her career.
This Bartoli run is simply WTF. She's been playing the best tennis of her career in the past month or so, but still sucked against top players. Then, this.

BTW I hope you realise the temptation to make fun of Henin just like you make fun of Maria when she loses is very, very big. how about you also try and be fair. If it wasn't for Justine, we'd have an all wet-willy final. And Venus beating bartoli is still better than a willies clash. Anyways, JH has lost to Safarova this year who is ranked lower than Bartoli and she didn't even win a set. She has won 5 tournaments since then. I see no reason to think JH will enter a slump.

The biggest surprise slam finalist since.... ? Tauziat? No, this is bigger. Notes as I finally got to read the thread: 1. Nole is eight zillion times hotter than Marcos. I love Marcos, but come on. 2. If Bartoli is playing Seles-esque tennis, how is she doing well at Wimbledon? Think, people, think. 1. Nole, Marcos, and Andy are not hot. Pat Rafter was a good-looking bloke as was Mark Phillipoussis, but there aren't any current players who could be considered "hot". 2. The way Bartoli was smacking the ball, on the rise, from one corner to the other, using angles, getting down very well to low balls and looking fat and uncomfortable at the net, was all very Seles-esque. Bartoli had a pretty poor Wimbledon record before this run to the final. Besides, Monica's been in a Wimbledon final too [having to contend with Navratilova in the SF], so it's not completely impossible to go deep at Wimbledon if you're playing Seles-esque. I'm not saying she's the second coming of Monica Seles. It's just that a bunch of shots she hit were reminiscent of old school Monica. That is all.

You clearly have horrible taste in men. This is just as well, given that you probably don't intend on sleeping with any. Regardless, to say there are no current players who could be considered hot is simply absurd. Woefully overrated as he is, Marat Safin is a pretty decent looking fellow when he's had a shave and a haircut. As is Tursunov. I suspect that either would be considered generally attractive, even if rated by people who had no idea who either was. Mark P hasn't been attractive in years. He's aged horribly. I don't know who you've been looking at. Djokovic is attractive, though not for everybody.

I think I'll survive with my horrible taste in men since, as you correctly noted, I don't plan on sleeping with any. I forgot about Safin. Ofcourse, he's very good-looking. No denying that. I'm not sure why, but this reminds me of the discussion the oldies were having on Blast from the Past about Suzanne Lenglen and Monica Seles being asexual [who were both favourites of Ted Tinling]. Random.

I don't find it that funny anymore since I've been on the receiving end of a lot of it as of late (not here, elsewhere).
