At least the morning will be enjoyable. Timbledon on Armstrong. Gooooo Lucie. And Radek, although you won't win.

Lucie will beat Bartoli. And Zvonareva will push Serena.

Tim vs Joe Willy? That could be fun to watch. Though we won't see it, since Serena will be on at the same time, knocking Bepa silly. Presumably USA Network will show Djoko and not Christine. Go Calleri, Ahsha, Lucie, ED -- and Andrei Pavel??

No. No chance. Remember that Bepa built her top 10 career similarly to how Chak is now.
We're not going to see much of Justine. Infact, we'll probably see more Ahsha.

Yes, don't even consider a Bepa 3 win. Even if she gets up 6-3 5-3. It's an impossibility.

My prayers are with Bepa. Remember in the summer of 2004 when Bepa almost beat Serena in one of those Cali tourneys? And then there was that marathon tiebreak against Myskina. If she'd won those two matches, she'd've become a solid top tenner

If she'd won those two matches, she'd've become a solid top tenner It wasn't that close in that LA match. I'll always remember the loss to Demented at the Open. She really should have won that one. Then, she played 50 straight weeks to make YEC. Where she promptly got killed every match. And it all went downhill from there.

Well, Bepa did beat her in Cincy last year. But Serena was probably the size of a Chevy back then.
I predict 1-6 6-4 6-2 or 6-4 3-6 6-1 for Silliams.

Dinara and Marat playing back to back matches at the Grandstand. Awwwww.
Rolle has won 0 points on Dinara's serve so far.
I hope ES starts with Djoko vs Radek. I like watching Stepanek play.

Post by Calico on Aug 31, 2007 11:18:26 GMT -5
The women's play has been mediocre at best so far in the 2007 U.S. Open. Janie should be happy because the USA Netwrok showed some of Henin's match today. Well the tail end of it anyway. I hope it's hot and humd today at the U.S. Open and that Zvonareva can upset a possibly heat weakened Serena Williams in their day match. After playign 2 straight night matches it might be hard for Serena to adjust to the day time heat and humidity.

I noticed her many times... too bad she's not working at night or she'd be getting cheered. She's as pretty as those young actresses in costume dramas, but tanned and toned like a tennis pro. Can't get any better than that. Plus the ballgirl outfit is ace. Reminds me of those Adidas kits that Graf and Kournikova wore back in 1999 (?).

Post by corswandt on Aug 31, 2007 13:03:12 GMT -5
Radek isn't giving Nole any rhythm. And I'm not sure if this ice rink really suits Nole's steady but not that explosive game. Maybe it's no coincidence he did so well on two of the slowest hardcourts around (Miami and Montréal).

Nole is playing pretty dumb, also. He's mostly sticking with hitting as hard as possible in the middle of the court, and hope Radek misses or gives up an easy short ball. Which is counterproductive since Radek is the more consistent player...
But, with these fast courts, it's going to come down to a few points anyway... so, whatever.

Did anyone see that bit they showed of Ahsha's match? She looked like the anti-Hingis -- always anticipating the WRONG thing, always in the wrong spot. She's got some nice shots, and maybe she just needs a lot more practice against players of this level to get used to it. And I hope she'll be motivated to lose those extra belly pounds now that she's made it to the big show. And I hope she'll pick up some kind of clothing contract; it's embarrassing that she hasn't got any yet.

James Blake and Fabrice Santoro played a special match last night and it's carried over to today for the men today. But the women's U.S. Open is non existent thus far. Too bad we aren't seeing any of the Bartoli/Safarova match here in America. It looks like a good one.
