Some match reports would be nice. Swiss Toni?
I haven't had the chance to watch any matches this week.

Maria Sharapova destroyed Ana Ivanovic today and that caught me by suprise. Masha has shown with hert stellar play in Madrid that if she's healthy in 2008 she will be a major factor in women's tennis again. It's hard to beleive how bad 2007 has been for Maria. But she can end it on a high note in Madrid and head into 2008 feeling like herself again.

Tracy just wants to remind us again that Dani is very smart. She graduated high school, after all!

Disappointment
Guys I am so disappointed that I had to pull out. My knee has been sooooo goood all year and I totally feel blessed for that. I feel like I have had a good time this year staying healthy with my knees. But just a couple of days ago I started to get pain in my left knee. And before I went out to play I was fine... However, when I started the match I got in a lot more pain than I anticipated. I could not even move!!!! It was a horrible feeling inside and out.
Now I am in a severe depression. I need to go to my doctor in the U.S.A to make sure I am ok but what u guys don't know is that I have to go to a mandatory player party on Saturday night. It's kinda ironic and unfair that I can't go get healthy because of a party. I mean who in their right mind made up these rules.
So not only do I have to hang in Madrid I have to be here knowing I had a chance to play in the most prestigious tournament of the year but I was forced out due to injury, and I have to watch someone else go on to glory. Do u know how that feels? I am always happy for the next person, and I always love when people better themselves, but I need to go home and get well, and start my healing process.
So in my frustration I write to you... My fans... Please pray for me, and continue supporting. I appreciate all u guys do!!!!
Most love always!!! Serena
The Latest:
Today I was feeling sad and I read this quote... I was upset about not playing and I realized I was feeling sorry for myself.
"When life’s problems seem overwhelming, look around and see what other people are coping with. You may consider yourself fortunate. Too many people over value what they are not and under value what they are."
Have a beautiful day. Xxx

I know. When I feel down, I look around and see people like poor Serena coping with horrible torments, like having to go to a party in Madrid, and I realize how lucky I am.

Sharapova was pretty impressive. Obviously it's pointless to keep talking about the injury (not that she's doing it in the first place) as there aren't no signs of any. The serve is back and the groundstrokes are almost on the level of the summer of 2006. She kept putting relentless pressure on Ivanovic, taking initiative of the rallies right from the first strike, and Ivanovic just can't stay on the defensive too long without getting caught flat-footed or making an UE. The only thing that could save Ivanovic was the extremely high first serve percentage but it never happened. Princess is pretty sure to make the finals, it will be interesting to see if she can challenge Justine.

Has anyone pointed out that this tournament blows? Yes, just about everyone (including Serena! ;D ) Everyone says so, with the exception of Shrieker fans, who think it's been just delightful!

I had to work 123432 hours this week doing annoying bullshit with even more annoying people.
But, I don't have to go to a party this Saturday in Madrid. Where it's probably like 80 and sunny.
So, you don't need to pray for Leena, kids.

Has anyone pointed out that this tournament blows? Yeah...I'm thinking turn it into Top 4 for next year, and anyone who doesn't play all of their matches is automatically barred from playing the following year's Grand Slam tournament at which their best result was in the current year.

I really hope Ree will survive the horrors of the Madrid party.
Leach would have done better than the #2 and #3 player in the world. Sad.

I really hope Ree will survive the horrors of the Madrid party. I hope she's well enough to get back to the U.S.A. where her doctor can get her out of her "severe depression" and possibly also improve her spelling.

I'm sure Ree will get back in her groove when she realizes that Justine and those losers have to keep playing tennis for the weekend. How they can cope with that, I have no idea.

I know Silliams is completely disconnected from reality (and not too bright), but I still can't help being pissed off by such stupidity. Ugh.

Credit to Maria Sharapova for playing at a high level of tennis after only playing one match since the U.S. Open. I think her fine form is remarkable considering the circumstances. But the players she has beaten in Madrid Hantuchova, Kuznetsova, Ivanovic and Chakvetadze are not Henin or healthy Williams sisters. I hope Maria plays an in form Henin in the final so she can find out where her game is at heading into 2008.
I think the YEC has been a dissapointment since it left New York City and Madison Square Garden where it had a home of loyal tennis fans, good atmopshere and always had good attendance on weekends.

Ana's keeping it close. Which does not bode well because she wins all her close matches. Oh and Justine's serving crap once again.
But Ana's also serving crap.
And the ballboys are hot. Stupid and useless, but hott

The 5-6 game has had 7 set points for shrieky and 3 gps for Justine and Justine can't buy a first serve right now.
I think I'm done watching now thanks[/frantic]

Ok I lied. Shriker wins on the 8th setpoint and I expect the second to go more quickly, like a 6-2. All hail queen of the shrieks. NOW I'm done.
