'Williams was less gracious in her postmatch news conference, explaining her demeanor by saying, "I just don't want to be here." '

"When Williams fell behind she turned up the volume, grunting with almost every shot and screaming in celebration when she hit a winner. But she was unable to rally..."

SERENA WILLIAMS: Well, I just missed some easy shots. I think that was the difference.

Kat was so composed in her Tennis Channel interview. She explained her game plan -- sorry, but I've forgotten the game plan. Shesaid she used the same tactics when she played Serena in Charleston, but that sometimes even the best tactics don't work if the other player is just better, and that was the case in Charleston. But she learned from that match, applied what she learned today, and also faced a worse version of Serena, all of which made her one happy Kat.

Actually, Serena's PC, as a whole, was one of her more gracious ones. Which isn't saying much, obviously. But still, first question:
Q. Before that match, I think you had 3 to 0 record against her. Was she a different opponent today than before? And also, I think she broke you in the opening game of the first set. Were you surprised that she played so aggressively today?
SERENA WILLIAMS: No. The last time I played her, she was really, really aggressive, and she played really, really well. So I knew it was going to be a tough match going in today.

Good for her! Even though it spoils the story, I'm glad to see she had some sensible words.

Of course, that initial answer is discrepant with her later "match of Srebotnik's life" theory. Nevertheless. Srebotnik, Schnyder, or Loit in the QF instead of Serena...kind of a wash

Llodra 2-0 up against Bolelli. Incredible stuff.
It would be so sweet for Llodra to advance to the QF and erase the awful memory of blowing match-points against Henman one year.

Cornet choked big in the first set (4-1 to 4-6) and has also given up a break lead in the second to A-Rad.

Radwanska is playing clinically, hitting some incisive winners, and her drop shot has been fabulous.

I just reviewed Llodra's 2004 RG "run" and he beat Popp, Haehnel and Jeanpierre. LOL.
So that result doesn't count anyway. He's a different player now, although still prone to choking probably.

There seemed to be a little byplay after the Fathead-Mopey match. Not surprising since both are jerks.
