Venus wanted to keep playing? That makes no sense, whatsoever. Venus always wants to keep playing no matter what.

I only watched ONE POINT of Sharapova vs Petrova. Petrova was her ~usual-self~ (boring and inept).

Yeah, remember the Pennetta match last year.
It'll be like 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 tomorrow.

Right, and she could have stopped that, but didn't, and lost when she could have recovered, stopped Flav's momentum, and made Flav think about the situation overnight. So this is good for her, even though she has no idea because she's daft.

Leena must be thrilled Safarova is playing so well in the first set against Venus. Meh. Lucie isn't good enough to reach my beloved 11-35 ranked zone. And she's going to lose anyway. The Sistahz always want to finish the match. And I'm sure the ESPN suckups blabbed that it's because they're great sportswomen, and such bullshit.

It's probably because of their self-belief, and refusal to acknowledge that their opponent's level (inc. momentum) even matters. So...yes, because they're daft.

Something to the effect of "Maybe they are bitches in press conferences, but they will give you the most fair match on the court possible. THEY ONLY PLAY THE BALL! YEAHHHHHHHHHH"

Venus is not a bitch in PCs; where'd Carillo get that? Anyway, Safarova's only hope is if she totally lacks imagination and therefore doesn't spend a moment thinking about What Might Happen but only thinks about stuff like What's on TV tonight. But even if she happened to have this type of head, she'd be sure to be infected by the excited people around her. So, yeah, there's no hope.

Oui. What's with all the empy seats? Is it the bad economy in France causing fewer tickets being bought? It's 9 PM and cold as balls. Western Europe sleeps 13 hours per day so they left.

A more abbreviated motion. She now goes up immediately. It's more technically sound.
Her speed was a bit better today, some aces and unreturnables down the T (largely thanks to Nadya's ineptitude) but there's still room for concern. Especially since her serve is significantly weaker to the Ad side. She even had a couple Demented-like long pauses before 2nd serves. That's a mental problem, and suggests she really shouldn't be playing competitively yet.

So, I'm watching De Screamo's win over Zheng. On mute, of course.
Micaela Carolina must be wildly inconsistent most other days, because she was magical today. Her powerfully angled groundies are amongst the best in the game already. This wasn't a match Zheng donated. Screamo won important point after another with great play.
Her serve is pathetic now, but if she improves that soon, which is likely... the sky is the limit. We know De Screamo has all the belief in the world.
Just when you thought women's tennis couldn't get worse...
