Remember the MAGIC of ten years ago? Maybe they actually will...do it.
And then they'll start to...do it! Just like ten years ago!

Women's tennis.
LeeNa.
I thought this time she would do it. Stupid me.
La Razz must win tomorrow.

So, the one time Nadal loses at RG is the day I'm away watching challenger level scrubs at the qualies of a $50k. Hmph.

SO FUN. Any live professional tennis is better than TV.
Which tournament? Any write-ups?

I'm more and more excited with each Masha win. I keep expecting her to lose and it doesn't happen. She'll lose to Domi most probably, but still, what a fantastic effort from her. It's great to have her back in the game.

Come on, Ali. This is her best match-up since Round 1. You're not going to be a jinx if you admit it.

Once again, we can blame Nadia Petrova for this.
Fucking Petrova, seriously.

Domi only knows one way to play, and she'll never stop doing it. Chase down every ball, and try to find angles while never missing. That type of play SHOULD beat Maria, on clay, in her current form.

No way, that type of play never beats Maria. Ever. Maria is not Venus. She does not go into flurries of UEs. This is why Venus's ranking goes up and down and up and down but Maria, when healthy, stays right in the Top 3.

It has on clay. Remember last year when Dinara turned into a pusher to beat her. And Maria isn't healthy. Her lack of a serve is a big factor in a match like this. Minimal easy points.

And why Venus has in fact already lost to Domi, on hard courts, while Shriek has beaten Domi twice on clay.

Maria served well against Lee Na.
And while Dinara does go into wall mode, she still gets everything back ten times harder and deeper than Domi can.

I agree that now is her only chance to beat her. But Dinara, even a year ago, still hits with more stick than Cibulkova. Maria doesn't throw away games at a time like Venus does. Even with her limited skills at the moment, I just cannot see someone without even a modicum of aggression taking her down.

I'm getting horribly limited TV coverage but at least the commentators are decent. I think it's the feed from Fox sports Australia. They don't talk during points and they often have a French commentator who knows stuff about the Frenchie players. Oh and they won't stop talking about how stupidly Sharapova plays. Just finished watching the Rafa match. Soderling played ridiculously well! Huge shots painting the lines and non-stop agression. Like how every dumb ballbashing wta player dreams of playing one day but never does. Awesome!

Awww I think I've watched too much tennis this week. All of a sudden during Kolya's match one of my eyes got all sore and bloodshot! I should close it but I want to see How Robin Did It.

It's worth waiting for. Soderling's serve was on fire. There were lots of points where he'd just smack the ball down the tee, get a short reply and then hit a huge forehand to finish the point. He just wasn't missing. He even hit second serves in the 120s.
Interesting contrast in the two boxes: lots of coaching, yelling and fistpumps from uncle Tony and the gang but Magnus Norman stayed stoic throughout. As an aside, Soderling had one of the most attractive looking players boxes I've ever seen.

McEnroe is blaming Rafa's pink & yellow outfit! And yeah, it's fun to watch, even on tape. I won't be watching Sharapova, though.

Rafa's getting no depth on his shots. Reminds me of post-stabbing Seles when she used to get tired.

A few post-pub thoughts… - Far from being an asterisked RG, it'll be an immense test of pressure for Rog, especially given his recent results. He hasn't lost to anyone but Nadal here since 2004. His chance was always going to come in the one year that Nadal was injured or slipped up - this is it. It's probably not going to happen again. - Could this help Rafa's USO chances? He's usually worn out by the time he gets there, but - especially if he doesn't defend Wimbledon - that'll be different this year. If he wins there, a Full House of Slams is worth more than a 5th RG…and if Rog holds up here, it'll be pretty incredible to see two men complete the Full House in the same year. - I'm still a lot more annoyed at the Li/Sharapova result. Not even because I'm a Shriek hater, but this was such a big opportunity for Li! And she blew it! Again! So frustrating. - I was in the pub with people who seemed to think that Henin wasn't playing because she got pregnant

Rafa remains vulnerable to bug serving. It even threw off the rest of his game. I'm glad someone with weapons finally didn't play like shit against him on clay.
I don't buy that. They take enough time off between Wimbledon and Canada. If one plays a great attacking match like Murray or Youzhny did, they'll beat him.
