But, not much, because, you know, Nadezhda. Nor did I.

Petrova is dominating Oudin the way Sharapova and Dementieva should have. If they could serve that is.

Alona has been more effective, and she's a harder hitter, but she has nothing special. She's like everyone else. Kateryna has more variety and great court sense, but less power, and is more mentally fragile. I'd say right now they're roughly equal, but Kateryna has a greater chance to improve, because what she needs to do better is easier to learn than what Alona needs to do better. Well analysed.

60 60 lolwut K-Bond!!! And, yes, she's better than Alona. And I'm biased because she's a rare net rusher and she's prettier. It is good to see Kateryna play some this U.S. Open. I don't know if she's better than her sister Alona but her upside appears bigger.

Also, K-Bond goes through patches where she can't keep a groundie in the court, and looks like Ivo. Alona is more suited to today's game where moving away from the baseline is a negative. And she's more talented. But, Kateryna is more fun. Nice to see her do well at a slam after I've been overrating her for 2 years.

Women's Tennis dictates Oudin wins this set like 7-5, then Nadezhda folds quicker than an origami artist.

Women's Tennis dictates Oudin wins this set like 7-5, then Nadezhda folds quicker than an origami artist. ' I hope yoiure; right. But I doubt it today because Oudin has expended so much energy and emotion in her last 2 matches that she has to running on empty at some point soon doesn't she?

There's no fatigue excuses for women in slams. These are the easiest tournaments they have all year.
Damn Petrova ruining my prediction. Can't you lose promptly.

Well, she just choked three very routine FHs to let Nadezhda hold from 0-30 down there.

I wonder what Nadya's record in widely televised matches is. Those 3 wins in whatever year she was the clay goddess, before losing 1 & 1 to Morigami at RG. And losses every other time.

Another Oudini escape by Melanie Oudin! I feel badly for Petrova because she lost a great opportunity to make the semifinals.

Heh, the commentator here was dissing Oudin the whole time. Dementieva and Sharapova are much better, but they made so many UEs. The same with Petrova. Oudin's success reflects the state of women's tennis at this moment. We'll see if she'll be able to handle the pressure and big expectations from now on. She doesn't have the game to challenge the best players, but who knows, in a few years maybe she will.

Oudin only played great vs. Demented, who was in her Plan B mode. The other Russian failures, she just hung around and they screwed up enough.

We were getting a completely different storyline here, with Cinderella references, comparisons with BOTH Justine and Kim , and more. But I thought the match was a lot of fun. I'm starting to really appreciate the freakshow that the WTA has become, with Bepa & Nadya meltdowns, Maria shrieking at the top of her lungs while hitting a weak FH to midcourt, Dinara's divaness regarding court placement, etc etc etc., all within a few short days. Does any other sport offer anywhere near this much comedy?

Yeah, mockery is fun.
The Serbian commentators are basically correct about Oudin, but I like her and this is a fun run, far from the hype. She'll be a decent top 20 player and there's more of a chance that she'll give us entertaining matches over the years than the shit currently up there.
