I much prefer an Oudin.Wozniacki matchup to an Oudin/Kuznetsova matchup and I got my wish. Great comeback win from Wozniacki. And Kuznetsova won the French open this year so she's had a great year.

Oh, Sweta. This final will be a drubbing. Hey, there's Nicole Stepanekova in the crowd. Lookin' good, enjoying her new career as tennis wife. And not worthy of mention by ESPN.

Anyway the Pusher thing is just a Clark Kent disguise for Woz. She can become SuperDane and play aggressively when she has to. No, no, no. WozDen shows moments, like she did a bit in the 3rd, of trying to be aggressive. She used to try being a basher like everyone else. But, she can't do it. Too weak. No weapons. Thus why she's such a pusher. But, whatever works. And in today's Women's Tennis, that might be the way to go. I still say Safina is at her best when she mindlessly stands 10 feet behind the baseline, loops shit, then blasts her awesome BH when the short ball comes.

Nicole Vaidisova married Radek Stepanek? No way. Wasn't Maritina Hingis into Radek at one time? It's bizarre that that dude is getting the top WTA women.

They've been an item at least a couple years now. I wouldn't be surprised to see a marriage announcement soon...
And don't hate. Radek should be an inspiration for all men.

Oh my God, this is awesome. This might bring Novak back. You know this is how he wants to be.

I'm trying not to be but it's hard. I don't hate Radek Stepanek Hurley. But I am amazed by his powers. He must be Obama like as a speaker around these women. ;D Radek has got it going on whatever it is.

That was a hilarious loss for Petrova, one of so, so, so many. She's got quite a talent for the glorious fuck-up.

Okay, maybe I overstated it just a tiny bit. ;D But to me, the real pushers are the players who are incapable of suddenly changing up to stage a successful aggressive moment. Woz may play most of the time like a Smashnova, but she's capable of more than that, and when forced into it -- and only then -- she is capable of playing differently, taking the ball early, smacking a DTL BH, fihishing points at the net. Pusher is her game of choice but I've seen more than once that there's more to her than that.

WozDen has excellent technique on her volleys, I'll give her that. But, the net game is dead and she can't approach on anything good against top players. The only time she hits a DTL BH winner is if it's by accident, or vastly open court. Not to hate on Caroline. She knows her limits and does her job of medium-paced balls near the baseline very well. It takes mental strength to stick with that vs. a Kuzzy that's capable of hitting a winner against you every point. It's just that she shouldn't be winning gaggles of Tier II's and reaching slam finals with this.

But the match had DRAMA and as I've said before, as far as casual fans and TV viewers are concerned, that's all that matters.

Re: the "respect" women's tennis gets when compared to men's tennis, one of the main problems is that the same reporters cover both men's and women's tennis, something I don't think happens in other sports.
And those reporters deeply resent that they're forced to cover something they regard as girly and frivolous like women's tennis when their colleages in say football don't have to do the same (i.e. cover the female variant of the game) - hence, all the rabidly negative articles lashing out against the women's game you get from disgruntled sports journalists who apparently forget that the women's tennis they despise so much is also a part of the way they make a living.

But also, women's tennis is awful. So are most sports. Top tier football these days consists of boring, aimless attritional battles for possession liberally sprinkled with copious amounts of diving, yet does anyone complain about the lack of quality of the game? The endless whining about "the state of women's tennis" has an element of truth to it, I won't deny that. But my point was that you don't see this happening in other sports which are also in a crisis.

That's because nobody can be bothered to write about the LPGA anymore.
Cracks aside, I get your point. I'm on board with people criticizing other sports more often.
I will start: American football is awful.

It's harder to criticize team sports. The only criticism comes from sports being unpopular, usually due to extraneous circumstances, and the general population being dumb (like hockey in the US).
Golf gets its share of criticism when Tiger isn't playing. And how everyone gets Women's Tennis against him. At least, until the Asian guy won last month.
