That shit was ridiculous. I was hoping Novak would hold up a ball and say "I'm going to shove this fu..." to him after that. That would have been funny. Also funny: the whole "this is how REAL champions get to match point" comparison with the women's SF

Why is Norm Chryst still umpiring matches, let alone GS semis? Jim Courier saw Norm Chryst this bald earringed chair umprire in the 1991 U.S. Open final against Stefan Edberg and said "Where did they get this guy"? I wondered the same thing then and wonder why is Chryst still so highly thought of as a chair umpire? Is it a USTA thing? He's okay I guess but he never stood out to me as a top chair umpire. Chryst is HATED by the European guys that announce the Masters Series events, and they never say why. Well, at least until he was booted out of those big tournies. Chryst is a vet, and takes no shit, so I can see why Frenchies like Santoro hate him... Meanwhile, the best ump, Mohammed Layhani, doesn't appear to do slam matches. A shame.

Anyway. I think WozPush might have a chance? Maybe? Outside chance. Wozniacki broke back against Clijsters and it's 2-2 in the first set. I think Caroline's big problem will be holding serve against Kim. Wozniacki will need to break serve several times tonight to win the match and title.

Why is Chris Fowler the lead anouncer ffor the women's final on ESPN2? He left the U.S. Open twice this fortnight to cover college football. That's his main focus on ESPN2. But why reward the guy with doing grand slam finals when you have Cliff Drysdale there? I know ESPN wants to make Fowler a star in broadcasting but give tennis fans the best voice to call grand slams finals and that's a tennis lifer like Cliff Drysdale.

I don't think it's a shaft. Probably the ITF, ATP and WTA have separate lists of umpires they want to use. My favorite ump is that Nooni guy with the Darth Vader voice that does mostly women's matches. John picks on him a lot. I care waaaay too much about umpires. Assburger's.

Wozniacki will need to break serve several times tonight to win the match and title. Well, that's occurring at the moment... This...hmm. Wozniacki winning the US Open would be something. I'm not quite sure what, but...it would definitely encapsulate the state of the WTA Tour in 2009. Although, I guess Clijsters winning it would do the same, huh.

Caroline seems to have all the answers to what Kim is doing tonight. This is amazing to see. Ooops it's now 4 all in the first set. Caroline had a good chance for a 5-2 double break lead in the first set. Missing that opportunity may come back to haunt her. But tonight Clijsters looks like the nervous nellie Clijsters of past grand slam defeats.
