Wow. Another unexpected twist! Let's see if Fed can actually serve a set out this time.

GOATFed played the end of that set...he usually shows up for a set and change before F. Error comes back. Let's watch!

Good for Fed. It would be funny if after all my talk he somehow came back to win this. I still doubt it, though.

This is the total points: Nadal: 116, Federer: 117.
Is Nadal unplayable on clay for this guy or is it a mental toughness issue on the big points?

Serve and forehand, he has to play like Carlos Moya to win, + the bonus of his magic jesusfed tricks

GOATFed played the end of that set...he usually shows up for a set and change before F. Error comes back. Let's watch! If he had taken that SP in the first set and stood two sets to one ahead right now, I'd favor him to win. But as it is ... it's not possible, is it? Roger has picked up his level but he's also somewhat altered how he is playing. That was an amazing volley that mere mortals cannot hit. 0-30. He needs to bust now.

Fed should be leading 2 sets to 1 OR Rafa should have won in straights. Come on. You know better than that.

Fed should be leading 2 sets to 1 OR Rafa should have won in straights. Come on. You know better than that. Don't be like that. You know that Fed should have 6 RG titles by now. But seriously, why are people making me want to troll my own forum? Why?

OR Fed should have won the first set and rolled in straights! OR someone could have turned their ankle and died.
There is no "should" in sports. Maybe even in life...maybe.

What a shot by Nadal. Right off the line after Fed hit a really good backhand return. Saves one bp.
Nadal tried to juice a big serve. He must feel he needs to step it up.
He did, though. Won that point behind a second serve including a ball that just clipped the back of the line.
Ace, Nadal. But you know, that's what we wanted to see. Roger didn't make errors on any of those points. He made Nadal win them.
Also, the ace was certainly set up by the fact that Nadal had been living on the serve to the backhand. So when he needs a point, he knows the big serve to the forehand side could well catch Fed leaning.
Huge hold for Rafa. That might be crucial.

If he had taken that SP in the first set and stood two sets to one ahead right now, I'd favor him to win. But as it is ... it's not possible, is it? I was just thinking about how the "impossibility" of the situation two sets and a break down might have actually worked as motivation for Fed - like, it'd make the victory even sweeter if he could somehow claw his way back from that position. He knows he's been playing well enough to dominate in patches here and there, so it's not like he's totally out of the match. "Impossible is nothing", as I believe a recent RG champion once said!

Somebody turning their ankle and dying is the very definition of an Asterisk Slam. You may recall when Fed won one of those here.
I kid. I need to be stopped. Or outcast to MTF for the day.

That thing about Wozniacki's emergency moonballs being magnetised to the baseline? Is true of Rafa as well.

I'm really glad that we didn't make it through this match without somebody putting "Rafa" and "moonballer" in the same sentence together. My day is more or less complete now... or it will be, when my sore throat magically goes away. Not allowed to be sick!

And there we go: The obvious result, that was absolutely always going to happen today. I approve.
I will root for this to happen at Wimbledon, too, except swap Federer for Djokovic in the final.
