I thought I wanted Sharapova to win but I find myself rooting for Robson. I think I hate all the top women's players and want upsets galore? That's exactly where I'm at when t comes to SEWTA.

KUZ LOST TO WICK. Now there's a SEWTA upset I can't get behind!

Meanwhile I see that Sveta lost to Wikmayer in 3 and Petko lost the 1st set to Pervak.

I kind of feel bad for LDL. She was doing so well for the most part of the match, but Bartoli really stepped it up in the crucial moments.

I'm shocked at you guyz. Maria has my permission to lose to anyone, except Robson.

And I don't know how she did it, how she suddenly found that 2nd gear and started moving forward, knocking the ball away. She obviously wasn't feeling well. It was the CAKE WILL TO WIN that saved the day.

I'm shocked at you guyz. Maria has my permission to lose to anyone, except Robson. I have no problem with Robson. I don't have to listen to British media hyping her up, she has huge potential for entertainment with her slut comments and it's nice to see a youngster who actually has some weapons. Even now, she was broken in the 1st game of the 2nd set, the usual SEWTA playbook, but instead of falling apart she actually broke back by playing well. That's refreshing. Sharapova is playing better, so she'll win in 2, but it's nice to see some promise in a younger generation. 0-30 on Robson's serve though.

Even when I was a huge JH fan, I didn't actually like her. I find JJ likable, but she's not a top player any more.

Even all that stubble can't hide Lopez's essential womanliness.

But, yeah, I think if we were in Britain we'd be rooting against her no matter what.

Pee and Bepa matches starting. I hope Bepa wins and Pee loses but I think the opposite will happen.

I hate the stupid British hype as much as anyone - HATED Henman and Rusedski - but I find Robson (and Watson) not just tolerable but likeable. Which is a relief, if I'm going to have to endure the hype it may as well be for players I'm OK with.

I loved Henman! But the British press was more horrible than adoring to him.

Well, that mixture of being nasty to someone while simultaneously making them intolerably ubiquitous (a sign of love, as we all know) that the British press specialises in.
Henmania was the worst. I remember actually opening a bottle of champagne after his last Wimbledon loss.

Petko in trouble now. This tournament has been a nightmare for me so far with players losing when I want them to win. Thankfully Cake managed to perk up and save today.

Damn, Mariana Alves basically robbing Robson of an important point just because Sharapova indicated it was out.
5-1 Maria serving for the match

Well, that mixture of being nasty to someone while simultaneously making them intolerably ubiquitous (a sign of love, as we all know) that the British press specialises in. Henmania was the worst. I remember actually opening a bottle of champagne after his last Wimbledon loss. I know, he was very unloved by many Brits. I spent many Wimbledons on vacation in Cornwall and bought all the papers every day, so I saw how it was for him over there. They just expected so much of him, as if he were a Michael Jordan, so then they crucified him after any loss, which was very unfair since he was no MJ at all. But he was still very, very good for a Brit, a fact they lost sight of. But I guess since it had been decades since they had a player that good, they couldn't help but go overboard. I think he handled the excessive expectations really well.
