Eww. And she won, of course. More unraveling ... How about this odd stat: Woz and Sharapova had the exact same avg. first serve speed in their matches today. Fastest serve speed? That also goes to Woz, 111 to 108 mph. Woz's only shot that can be described as a weapon is her first serve, though. So it's no shock.

/me is always sad when reminded of that Date-Graf situation. Isn't too much made of it? Admittedly, I didn't see it, but c'mon. As if Steffi couldn't win another set from her.

Yeah, that second set was closer than it sounds. Kimiko won 6 games in a row but there were lots of deuces. It would've been silly to count Steffi out at that point.

Just one more thing about Roddick: it's so tiring now that it's been 10 years of listening to this guy to hear ESPN lap up every word and defend him at every turn. The guy is a jerk! He's not a nice person! There's no reason to like him! Stop! I've been saying that for years. Andrew may be a decent person off-court, but he's unquestionably an asshat on. It's not just ESPN either, it's all the Anglo nations. Janie, the livestreams aren't much better. A few of them on ESPN3 can be unabashedly biased, and foreign feeds are usually super homers. I wish every country could copy Australia/NZ, who treats every Great Arn like she's a superstar. Or, no announcers, which I prefer most. I concur with the advantage that top players get with one court having a roof. That's why I don't care for it. Of course, Roddick 2003 USO scheduling can still occur, but it's not as easy to do. You have been saying that for years, yes. It does seem like his behavior has gotten worse lately, though. Say the last year or so.

Roddick aiming at an opponent's head, ESPN basically ignoring it, and then he was a dick about it afterwards was the worst. He's always been foul on court, though. But, judging from the Troicki match, I guess umps are told to never do anything, so meh. I wonder what Gimelstob said. I assume he's hated here , but he's become a great announcer and he really knows his stuff. Although, he can be a USian homer.

I don't hate Gimelstob, never did. In fact I used to root for him. He's one of Brinyi's favorite hatees, though.

Where is court 18?? I can't believe it but you can hear Sharapova's shrieks in the background of the livestream! sheesh She really is fucking awful, isn't she?

Like, seriously, especially from Mr. and Mrs. I Love Faces. He has a beautiful face with a super-ripped extremely masculine body. What more do you people want?
No wonder you two aren't married off yet.

For tennis players, F-Lo's body isn't great. He has such little pec definition. When he's dolled up for pictures, his face is gorgeous, modelish... but, on court he does look like a more feminine Sweta.

He has great abs. Great arms. He is not roid rage, but he is not "womanly." That is just not correct.

I saw him deny it and say something lame about how he 'failed to put enough topspin on it.' I think his little show at the US Open was maybe even worse than that. The only reason he got all pissed off about the foot fault is because Tipsarevic was kicking his ass and he knew he'd lose. Seems to me that Roddick's serve isn't doing the same amount of damage it once did. And then once he gets into rallies, most of the top 50 probably doesn't feel like he's going to blow them away. I have nothing against Gimelstob now that I don't have to watch him play tennis matches.

No, I agree, F-Lo is actually quite extraordinarily beautiful. He has perfect bone structure, modellish looks, you're correct. I totally get why Judy Murray calls him Deliciano. But there's something a bit too...delicate about his facial features? He's pretty like a girl, not handsome like a man. If he actually was a fashion model he'd do androgyny well. I can admire his looks in an aesthetic sense but not in a sexual way.
The girly hair has never helped.

He's too pretty, even for me, somebody who is generally all about the pretties. That's totally it. Also, he looks like a statue, not a real person. Edna is on to something, too, but I'm too lazy to quote her since her post is now up-thread a bit.

I always got the impression that Pervak was a weaponless pusher - this should be another reminder not to trust TennisForum and Corswandt on who is and isn't a pusher. Because to make Petkorazzi (who has the worst technique this side of Stosur) self-destruct on grass you need really aggressive play. Pervak hits a clean ball, but is a rallying machine with no kill shots in the vein of The Hair, or perhaps a (much) lesser version of the player who set the template for the genre - A. Bondarenko.
