Kvitova isn't the man for the job if we want a Sharapova beater. Brain cramps in tight places! Every player on SEWTA has those brain cramps, Sharapova has them. Although I'm very very disappointed in how Petra lost it.

If Pironkova only had a forehand!
I like how her 'serve out wide in the deuce court + backhand to either corner' play works every single time.
Meanwhile, Petra apparently believes she should have so much power it doesn't matter about tactics. That's probably true on most days. On this day, with one set to play for the semis of Wimbledon, I'd be hitting to Pironkova's forehand.

Oh lord, Pironkova is going to have more slams than Jankovic and Wozniacki I'm down with that!

She is used to Slam SFs and Finals, though, even if it's been quite a while since her last Final. So she's not going to be as prone to brain cramps as any of these other SEWTA specimens. Oh, well, I somehow managed to survive a Hewitt win here, so I suppose I can stand another Maria one. It'll be easier since I won't be watching, as I did watch Hewitt. But harder because the media's going to go absolutely bananas, and that's harder to avoid.

On the other hand, it's entirely possible that Kvitova gets her token brain cramps match out of the way right here, over an opponent who can still be beaten. Better it happens now than against either Shriek.

On this day, with one set to play for the semis of Wimbledon, I'd be hitting to Pironkova's forehand. That's the one thing that stops me from fully embracing her as my fave. I've seen it too many times. She doesn't change a game plan, I'm not sure she has another game plan, and that's disappointing. I can't be a fan of a player that relies only on power. I seem to remember that she used to go to the net more, now I'm not even sure. It's just urgh.

We're actually truly going to have The Yelling Final, aren't we. Yes, it has been ominously looming from the moment S & V lost. Hilarious if it takes place under the roof with the shrieks echoing around as mentioned by Alex, deafening everyone inside.

Defect to Canada, like Wownic!
Yesterday was such a good day. How did it become so twisted as to lead to a Shriek vs. Shriek final?
