Petko back already? Gaining matches in qualies is probably better for her at this point. I was expecting more obscure juniors from IW. Peer, WTF.

Yeah, it's fantastic that Andrea might be coming back so soon. Found this: Germany's Andrea Petkovic was training with former world no. 1 and 22-time Grand Slam champion Steffi Graf yesterday in the United States as she gets ready to make a comeback to the women's tour next month. Petkovic works with the Adidas Tennis program which also includes coach Darren Cahill and Gil Reyes, both close associates of Graf's husband Andre Agassi. Graf used to also endorse Adidas in her playing days and regularly hits with some of the current women pros when they are in Las Vegas. Petkovic injured her knee in Australia at the Hopman Cup and has not played since. She is expected to make her comeback at the Indian Wells event in March. www.tennisworldusa.org/WTA---Andrea-Petkovic-trains-with-Steffi-Graf-in-preparation-for-comeback-articolo8682.html

If Steffi came back right now, I bet she'd win the French.

According to SI, Petkovic requested a QWC instead of a MDWC presumably to get matches under her belt.

It looks like a pretty good draw for Petra to make a run. So she'll probably lose to Mandy Minella.
It says a lot about how far Woz has fallen that I think even with a draw like that, she's is more likely than not to lose before the QF.

Puig beat Petkovic 76 63 to qualify. Can we take a moment to think about the antics in the Larcher de Brito/Rodionova match, too.
Your qualifiers and their placements:
Daniela Hantuchova - Q Stephanie Foretz-Gacon Monica Niculescu - Q Elina Svitolina Petra Martic - LL Stefanie Voegele Alize Cornet - Q Monica Puig Pauline Parmentier - Q Mirjana Lucic-Baroni Bojana Jovanovski - Q Garbine Muguruza Alexandra Dulgheru - Q Michelle Larcher De Brito Ayumi Morita - Q Lesia Tsurenko Jill Craybas - Q Mallory Burdette Anabel Medina Garrigues - Q Casey Dellacqua Maria Sanchez - Q Olga Puchkova Lourdes Dominguez Lino - Q Grace Min Lara Arruabarrena Vecino - Q Sesil Karatantcheva
Burdette and Voegele got the jackpots, everything else a toss-up. Gooooooooo Alex D.

She's only just coming back though...this year she's won a 10K then won a round in the Cali 125 and was the only person to take a set off eventual champ LAV, so I'd call her an unknown factor, rather like poor Petkorazzi. I certainly think she has a chance against MLDB.

I don't hate Shahar; I like her. I just don't think she deserved a WC here, because of her recent awfulness.
It's true that she's generally hated, and I always assumed it was for being a pusher. But I have NO idea why she went from top 15 to whatever she is now; another very mysterious decline.

First off, because she's ISR and tennis boards are mostly Euro and extremely liberal.
And that joke of a tie in Israel vs. Russia didn't help matters.
And she's also among the biggest pushers on tour.
I think she's ok. Kinda boring to watch, though.

Did you all read about the ISR Fed Cup drama last year? Some ITF scrub on the team for the first time really went in on Peer and Glushko afterwards for being unprofessional bullies. I guess Peer's confrontational attitude on court doesn't help, but I neither like nor dislike her and haven't seen her play in ages. This is a bombshell result though, Erakovic is coming off a title and in Peer's last match she won like 8 points in the first set against Mrdeza. Scheepers beating Mladenovic 64 61 is another bombshell to me. Jeepers has been dreadful this year. LAV d. Thunder 64 16 63. Distinctly non-bombshell Pervak d. Jay-Z 61 62. Non-bombshell as well. Stosur mugging it up in AUS really disguised Jie's terrible form, I think she might be done LiDL d. Min 16 64 63. Ouch at the scoreline. Unsurprising loss but Min is still waiting for her first WTA win... Fran d. Flav 75 61. Wouldn't be surprised if this was the last IW for both. Soler Espinosa d. King 67 62 61. Vania is plummeting right now. I assume Burdette will beat Paszek next and then pleeeeeeeease Kirilenko as well.
