And Stephens continues the pathetic march of USians out the door. Losing to Ula! Nice to see Mona moving on!

Niculescu has also beaten fellow youngsters Babos, Zheng and Putintseva (twice) in the last six months, all in straight sets. The only match which was competitive was, somewhat bizarrely, Zheng (6-4 7-5). The rest have been blowouts (6-3 6-2, 6-2 6-3, 6-2 6-3, 6-3 6-2, 6-0 6-2 and 6-0 6-0). Ha, I'm sure those kids have never seen the Niculescu sort of shot before. They're flummoxed! She's a flummoxer. Too bad it doesn't work against the likes of Mashabot. If Niculescu ever scores a win over Ma$habot, I don't know whether I could contain my joy. Annoying that Mrs Krumm and Lucic both won first sets but couldn't close the deal! I'd been worried about the White Mug having to defend Miami R4 points next week but the draw's opened up really nicely for her here. Soooooooo this Sloane slump is gonna be a thing, huh. Shame for her.

I don't consider it a slump. Zak, Cirstea and Ula are about the same level as her.

CAKE d. Sweata 6-4, 6-3 after being down 0-4. Apparently, she cheated by fist-pumping and screaming like crazy.

This is the first I've watched Wickmayer in ages, she's absolutely terrible today. Good to see Kerber with her own game back on track though.

Second set: Kerber got careless and invited Wickmayer back in, got it together and retrieved one break, retrieved the second when Wickmayer SEWTAed up serving for the set (starting with two DFs). Better tennis in general though.

I think Kerber's lefty FH DTL might be one of my favourite shots in the game right now. She changes direction so suddenly.
The White Mug is in the 4R - her first notable result since making the Miami 4R last year...

White Mug and Arriba both in the round of 16. With Tower Flower halfway decent on clay and CSN on the verge of the Top 20, this could be a bit of a renaissance for Spanish tennis.

BAG's game is nothingness. She's making Barthel look like Peak Pierce.

They're showing the wrong Rad sister! I want to watch Haga getting breadsticked! Though I guess she'll turn it around quickly enough.

Broke Kiri to go up 1-0 in the third but about to hand it back.
Azza injured. Oy this event could go really wrong.

Events need Azza now? I didn't think anyone gave a darn about her.

I might need her for dewozzing the event. Nadezhda could do that tonight though.

Nadezhda fucked up.
I don't really worry about Woz any more. More irritated by Stosur beating Barthel and Kirilenko lasting beyond R1.

Kirilenko just can't do anything, she literally kept playing points until Petra started to blow like she and the rest of us knew she would.
THE LAST FOUR POINTS OF THE SET WERE CONSECUTIVE DOUBLE FAULTS.

Horrible. Horrible, horrible, horrible.
But I'd still rather see her do it against No-Account Masha than WTA's Only Cover Girl Masha!
