Since I watched 'the O.C.' Taylor Townsend already sounds like a nickname to me, heh. Same! Haha.

Taylor Townsend definitely sounds like a character rather than a person. Good stuff from her and Kimiko - also, Dulgheru beat MLDB Much-needed points. Lucic won a round too! LOL @ the Brits flopping. Both failing to reach even my expectations of them this year, let alone the British media's. Though they're not doing as badly as Rus and Martic, both of whom have yet to win a match in 2013. Hilarious stuff from FSG. I love how she keeps the baby bashers in check.

Dulgheru won? That's great! Maybe she and Shahar are starting big comebacks here.
Am very happy for Hampton and hope to get a chance to watch her play here.

We should somehow mark that post and revisit the list at the end of the year. I hope it won't be up to 20 or 30 names by then. Please stay off the list, Kumkhum. Maybe Niculescu will be top 5 by then.

Maybe Niculescu will be top 5 by then. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if she reached top 20.

Not the strongest start for Sweata here -- 0-6. WTF?? She just had MPs for an 0-6 6-2 6-4 win... Now two points away from 0-6 6-2 7-5...1 point... #SEWTA

Was this Lady JaJa bringing the DRAMA or Sweata just being Sweata or SEWTA soaring to it's peak or all of the above?

Good old SEWTA. Who knows what happened, but I hope it was just crazy Sweata being Sweata. At least we don't have to wonder if she's motivated these days!

Lepchenko lost 16 46 to LAV? What is with the US women at IW.

Lepchenko's had a weird year - she's 1-6 in Tour matches, but in the middle of that slump she had a brilliant Fed Cup week.

Niculescu has also beaten fellow youngsters Babos, Zheng and Putintseva (twice) in the last six months, all in straight sets. The only match which was competitive was, somewhat bizarrely, Zheng (6-4 7-5). The rest have been blowouts (6-3 6-2, 6-2 6-3, 6-2 6-3, 6-3 6-2, 6-0 6-2 and 6-0 6-0).

Ha, I'm sure those kids have never seen the Niculescu sort of shot before. They're flummoxed! She's a flummoxer. Too bad it doesn't work against the likes of Mashabot.

Another young USian, Keys, bites the dust. But happily, Jamie H moves on, which matters because she's defending big points here.
