Goooooooooooo Serena Muzza Should I just stop right there? I mean, WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME. I need to start drinking more. Why are you still rooting for Serena? Maria isn't in the tournament anymore. Is your twitter friendship with Serena stans turned you into real fan? I really am not a fan of Lisicki. Oh well!

Tomic/Berdych should get good, or at least be a nice stylistic contrast. Obviously Muzza/Misha is NID now. Nole/Tommy is one of those I'll keep an eye on the score for and tune in if Tommy holds his own.

I really don't like her but it turns out that all it takes for me to vociferously cheer her on is for her to get close to the finishing line vs Serena (cf also MLDB). Hopefully she also follows MLDB in losing next round. Bizarrely, Lisicki and Kanepi have never met (Li leads Aga 6-4; Cake leads Sloane 1-0; erm...Flipkens leads Shitra 2-1, with one of those this year.)

Lisicki, Kanepi, Radwanska, Li, Stephens, Bartoli, Kvitova, Flipkens - one of them is winning Wimbledon. Insane. I've been seeing this a lot and I really have to call bullshit. We have a former Wimbledon champion, a former Grand Slam champion/multiple finalist, two former Wimbledon runner-ups, Lisicki on her 4th QF, Kanepi on her 2nd, Stephens Top 10 for the year, Flipkens Top 20. It's not like a player who has never even made a grass-court final is involved, like Knapp, Puig, or Pironkova.

It's not like a player who has never even made a grass-court final is involved Stephens and Kanepi. I broadly agree, none of these players is a surprise per se - the surprise is all of them, with none of the Big Three. And three of them are legit Slam contenders in general.

Sorry, I'm working. I meant "otherwise useless player."
(You can respond "Stephens" to that, for partial credit.)

Why is Lisicki so hated? Isn't she harmless? She loses all the time? What's she done that's worse then rape-apologising (that's the most recent of Serena's transgressions)? Or even compared to Barthel? Barthel loses all the time, doesn't try, wastes her talent, the same as Lisicki, yet everyone is rooting for her. I'm really curious because I've been away from following WTA for a couple of years, so I clearly missed something.

What's insane is how NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MINDS would have called this when the draw came out. No one's bashing their pedigree (or lack thereof) but it's still insane that one of them will win Wimbledon considering the last 5 Slams have gone: Azza Masha Silliams Silliams Azza Silliams. Even the Tier I finals this year have only featured Serena, Masha & Azza (Doha, IW, Miami, Madrid, Rome) except for Woz in the IW final. Before this tournament, the Top 3 had clearly separated themselves from everyone and none of them is around by the QF. THAT is insane.

Lisicki is the epitome of a brainless player, and she's attractive enough (with her mouth closed) to have some creepy fans at other places. That's enough to warrant hatred here.
I'm against CAKE winning. She's a nasty bitch that can't stay in shape. I really want Sloane to beat her.

I hate Sloane - she's shown herself to be a whining good for nothing (see: all comments re: Serena Williams this year). I'll be happy with CAKE or if not her, then Li or Kvitty. Li and Kvitty have already won Slams though.

Anyone but the Big 3 winning this would have been insane before the tournament started.
Burley is feeling boastful because Tszvetana lost, or something.

Still Serena & Maria fans are the worst, so I'd take Lisicki and her creepy fans over those 2 fanbases.

I don't exactly like Sloane, but twitter absolutely hates her, so her reaching SFs could be hilarious. I'm fine with Li Na, Kvitty, Kanepi or Lisicki winning it, and I don't have strong feelngs with regards to Fipkens.

It's Lisicki wimping out 90% of the time that really turned me off her. Crying about not wanting to be bagelled, etc. Plus, the Pretty Girl Fans. And yes, Serena is worse, which is why I ended up on Lisicki's side today.
Stephens comes across as a little odd and silly but it's the combination of USian hype and a really pedestrian game that I can't stand.

Tomic's off-pace contrasting game is interesting to watch, but I remain puzzled how he wins with this. He doesn't go for returns, he doesn't really counterattack either, he'll just try some short/deep angle attacks when he can. It seems like Berdych should have one his usual runs where he's slamming winners but it doesn't happen.
I forgot about Lisicki's mood swings, too. She had a period there where she was crying more than Bepa.

It's a bit like watching Monfils at times, though I think Tomic thinks he has a plan whereas Gael Force just does whatever.
