I see that Popp is now out of the top 200, having lost 97 spots by not defending his Newport points. Maybe we'll have a Poppless Wimbledon next year?

No, he will get in as a wild card and then win it, like Goran did!!!

So he is, yes!
Also, Nadal is just 90 points behind Hewitt...

"I've got no doubt that I feel like I'm the third best player going around right at the moment." -- L. Hewitt, 2005 U.S. Open ;D

Canada TMS Round 1 Cincinnati TMS Round 1 US Open Round 2 Madrid TMS Round 2 He can make some major points in the next few months. Lleyton to your no.2 spot

I don't think you'll have long to wait! To add to what Adeegee said, in Hewitt's case he has this to defend:
Canada - R16 Cincy - final Washington - title Long Island - title USO - final
Heck, he might feel like the fifth best player going around right now after all that. ;D

Yes, remember that he skipped the Olympics so he could pick up some cheap points winning bumpkin-filled tournaments!

Oh, good move! And I'm sure very endearing to the Aussies!

Strangely, he copped almost no criticism, despite the fact that 100,000 articles had been written about how Hewitt would give up both of his arms for the chance to play for Australia. Instead, he justified his decision with some lines about how tennis has no place in the Olympics, which of course allowed the Aussie press to praise him as a man who sacrificed a chance to play for his country because of this great vision of the Olympic Ideal. When the truth was that he was being a ranking points ho.
Aussies. Go figure! ;D

I hate that story. Tennis journo Joel Drucker has a "Letter to Chip" on the TW site. If i could stand Chip at all, I would post a link to it, but I can't be bothered to go to so much trouble as it stands.

No!! I didn't blow him off. When I said "I hate that story", I meant I hated reading your post about how the Aussies let Chip get away with anything. Naturally, I want his whole country to Turn Against him! ;D I read Joel D's whole article. He is wrong, though; Chip HAS been known to make excuses after losing; how could Joel not know that? Joel is too kind to Chip, which I sort of grudgingly admire. It's a very good article.

I wasn't clear, I'm afraid -- I meant that Drucker seemed to be writing a revenge article because Hewitt wouldn't give him an interview. I have to say I don't have a positive impression of either of them!

Ah! Now I see; this was DRUCKER'S brain speaking to Chip, not YOU speaking to me. I'm a little slow in the evenings! ;D
Well as revenge articles go, that was a pretty weak one, I thought. Chip is so very much worse than JD says! :satan:

Monfils moves up 19 places and is now #46, and passes Mathieu, making him the third-ranked Frenchy after Gasquet (18) and Grosjean (34).

Lleyton to your no.2 spot Well, the post-USO situation is now clear: 1. Roger Federer, Suisse, 6,975 points. 2. Rafael Nadal, Espagne, 4,360. 3. Marat Safin, Russie, 3,255. (he gained 2 spots without playing 4. Andy Roddick, USA, 3,125. 5. Lleyton Hewitt, Australie, 3,085.

I see that thanks to his title in the Evilux Challenger, C.Rochus is now tanked 42nd, making him the #2 Belgian behind Olivier, and moving him past Malisse.
