WTF they can't have the mixed doubles final on Saturday. Its NOT TRADITIONAL.
On a related note, I welcome the return of the hyphen to the thread title.

I'm so confused; I don't know who to root for in that Mixed semi! Otherwise, go Justine, Gnome, Polish stranger, Venus , and I guess Jailbait Barbie, why not, since she keeps beating my players anyway. On another note, unlike Willow, I find the hyphen quite disturbing!

The remaining mixed teams are sort of ew ew ew.
I am a little surprised that the period in the thread title has not drawn more attention.

"They're very close. They're the two best players in the world at the moment," said Baghdatis, who lost to Federer in the Australian Open final. "You cannot say one is the best -- you have to take both of them."

ha, Amelie said exactly the same thing in her interview today. In fact, their Friday interviews are almost identical.

"I don't watch a lot of women's tennis. I watch a lot of men's tennis. It's a very different kind of game. In the last couple of months I have played much more with my forehand. The men are doing that a lot. They move forward. They're very relaxed. They have a different kind of attitude. So it's pretty interesting. When I watch Federer playing tennis, it's really fantastic."

I am a little surprised that the period in the thread title has not drawn more attention. The period is amazing! But I didn't want you to get a swelled head so I kept mum about it. Justine fans watching NBC had better be ready for a relentless stream of Justine-bashing from the commentators tomorrow. I watched the NBC tape of yesterday's match and it was an unbelievable character assassination from start to finish, with all 3 commentators piling on. Again today at the end of the men's coverage, Carillo spoke very bitterly about Justine at the AO. I wish it would be Mary Joe and Dick Enberg or someone else than these three bitter geezers Mary, Ted and John.

I'm fine with Justine being the villain. I always cheer the bad guy.

MJF was the absolute worst post-AO, though. Most people aren't willing to let this one go. Pam seems to be most forgiving, but even she is talking it up. As they should -- this is a rematch, after all. John never seemed to have a problem, even immediately after the incident, but I haven't been watching any NBC Wimbledon so I haven't heard anything they said.
I'm not looking for Justine to be liked. I want her to win, fucking win, as much as she can. I don't root for the Yankees to do charity and I don't need the Giants to organize the NFL players' union. I want my friends to be loyal and my bosses to be fair and myself to lead a life of goodness and accomplishment, but come on.
This is SPORTS, and I want my horses in first. Period.

Maybe I need to rewatch the match, but I watched the first seven games or so of the Kim-JHH match on ESPN and parts of the same match on ESPN and I didn't notice any negativity from the commentators. I also have watched NBC's nightly updates and John McEnroe there has never said anything bad either. Maybe a little joke but nothing nasty like you see in Shriver and Bodo's endless JHH hating blog entries.
Bodo's blog entries have been terribly against JHH. I am surprised she even answers his questions in the press conferences. She should spit in his face, hell so should every other tennis player.

MJF says Justine "learned her lesson" and "will never do that again" (both probably true!), so even though she mentions it, she's also willing to move past the AO.
For some reason I can't stop laughing tonight, thinking we used to call Rafa "the Spanish Gasquet". Now they aren't even members of the same species!
Ah, right now coming up: ESPN2's women's final preview ... who will they pick?

I only wish Justine did it to Maria, then Maria Jose would be giving her death threats. Maria Jose was so dumbfounded as Maria blew that 5-1 RG lead to Safina. She still makes excuses for that funny meltdown. Oh happy memories!

In the long run Gasquet will prove he is the most talented. I refer to wins 15 years from now on the Geezer Tour!

While Rafa may be a little stiff by then from all this running and winning and stuff. But if it's humid out, all bets are off. ;D

No, the commentators on ESPN were fine, it was just the NBC guys during the match replay in the afternoon. And yeah, Bodo is always way off the deep end, and Pam's print articles have been bad, too. But Bodo hates everyone -- even SAINT KIM!!! -- he seems like a guy about to blow a gasket. And for Pam it's personal; I think she hates the way Justine was so blithe about "I'll have more chances in other Slam finals". Pam reached one Slam final at age 16 and that was it for her. And Justine's already reached 2 more in the few months since that day! Poor Pammy.

Well, I hope Amelie wins, obviously. She has much more to lose and much more to gain. She needs to shut a lot of people up. Losing would be a disaster, winning would be ecstasy. We'll find out in hours.
