Yeah, JJ now one Wimbledon SF from the complete set.

Fowler just said Serena has never defended a Slam title. Wimbledon 2002 tends to precede Wimbledon 2003, right?
Shut up, Chris Fowler. There are plenty of accurate ways you can shit all over Serena; no need to make things up.

Congrats to leggy Jelena on undoubtedly the biggest winb of her career! Serena looked lethargic but perhaps that was jelena's doing. And why aren't people now considering Venus for the title ahead of the Henin/Sharapova winner? Venus owns them both head to head so she should b the favorite now that Serena is out.

It is not easy to find good reasons for bringing up Cordwell and Werdel. That's the best I could do. Kiwi, I hope you didn't have money on the all-Williams final.

Venus owns [Justine] head to head Oh good, my favorite anachronistic stat rears its head again It doesn't matter -- Pam picks Maria tonight and I agree. Justine has looked rustier. I hope I am wrong.

When did Darren Cahill become an ugly Asian man?
Just wondering.

If Maria was "Semipova," do we now have "Quarterena"?

It's a win-win prediction: if that happens, I can gloat I predicted it correctly, if I'm wrong that means we don't get to see an all Williams fans. WIN WIN.

Cordwell was 2 points away from the final, and had a solid '89. Show some respect, kids.
Notice how the German leaves out Claudia Porwik. Homer.

Right. Good old Claudia. Couldn't play a bit. But she must have done something right to make Gaby turn her ankle, being 0-6 0-4 down.

Leena knows all about tennis (like Bud Collins) and alot about politics. I'm impressed. It's still hard to believe Jelena beat Serena in straight sets. I didn't see this coming.

Wow, how sad. Did Graf win that year? We definitely have Quarterena. Someone on WTAW coined it mid-suck Jankovic loss.

If Gabby had won Wimbledon 1991, she might not have turned into a pumpkin. But it was her own fault so what can you do.

ESPN confirmed for the first time that they will actually show Tsonga vs. Youzhny tonight. You never know with them and non-American, non-top 5 males. Is anyone else staying up for that one with me?

It was like 1-6 0-1. And Steffi won that year, but Helena should have.

Nah, I think it was 2-6 1-2 ret. I just wanted to emphasize that Porwik was hopeless. Gabby and (on the same day) Woodforde were two of the first victims of the sticky surface.

Only took 18 more years to change the surface!
I love when Pamela goes on her rants about the evils of rebound ace.

They played in the SF in '90, which ended up being the true final. And Helena came so close. I recall that was the first slam in a while where Steffi wasn't winning every match in 12 minutes.

I think some scrub she beat along the way said that Steffi had lost her magic. Turned out she was pretty right.

Wait, Angelica Gavaldon made the QF in 1990?!
Wiesner was a decent player, but still what a weak draw.
