I was completely wrong because I thought Justine would be able to get Maria out of her rhythm. So was I. I knew Maria was playing shit hawt tennis, and Henin was playing shit tennis period, but I thought she'd just slice Maria to death if she found herself in trouble, the low bounce forcing Maria to net one shot after another. Henin tried, but Maria dealt well with most of those slices, and even attacked a few. In terms of sharpness, footwork and court coverage, this was the best I've seen Maria play since the 2007 HK final she lost to Clijsters. Bottom line Henin can beat dumbass bashers like Kuznetsova or Ivanovic without a serve and without going for her shots, but a solid, confident Maria is a different matter altogether. The Wrestler played like crap, yes, but Jankovic was masterful. And all of it done without a serve and a FH. Plus she's a very bad matchup for Maria, so the SF is far from a foregone conclusion.

That performance by Maria was amazing. Quite possibly her best match ever, and even better when you consider who it came against.
Also, this breathes life into her rivalry with Justine, which was pretty one-sided heading in (2-6).
And yes, she is my pick for the title playing like that .... there are still good players left with wins over her, but ... if she maintains the form she's had so far, she will prevail, I think.
The match stats really tell the story ... Justine landed only 48% of her first serves, and won just 35% percent of the points she had to start with a second serve! And her winning % on the minority of points where she made a first serve was only 56 ... Maria ate her serve alive.
Total points: 69-45. Wow.
As for Justine, what an amazing run from Wimbledon on. Kudos to her.

How come after Sharapova beat Henin to stop her 32 match winning streak we didn't see Maria interviewed by ESPN2's Pam Shriver courtside or in the tunnel after Australian television was finsihed interviewing Maria on court? Where did ESPN2 have to go at 5:30am EST in the morning when they could have shown an important interview for their viewers? I recall Shriver interviewing players in the tunnel after matches in previous years. We see an upset and Henin's 32 match winning streak ended and we see some Serena Williams press conference interview clips after Sharapova upset Henin. You're not actually whining that Sharapova didn't get enough attention... are you? Because that sentiment alone might be enough to press me towards our first ever banning.

Ah, we're back to the days of the general public saying "Wow, she is pretty!" every time for the Sharapova highlights. We missed you.
I need someone to explain to me slowly what the hell is so special about her.

I'm not whining. I'm making an observation. Sharapova/Henin was an important match and we should have gotten an interview with the victor after the match. That seems reasonable to me and I would say the same thing if Henin won. ESPN2 thought it was such an important match that they had 4 people calling it. ;D But they couldn't give us an interview after the match with Pam Shriver and Maria. It's bad business in my book.

This tournament has Venus written all over it. She'll roll over Maria like she did in HK.Sad, but the Ree and Henin losses were worth it. Maria was brilliant tonight. I mean, wow. What an awesome display of tennis. I stand corrected. ;D

The moment is too much for Youzhny. I give up. 7-5, 2-0. Should have stayed up. He's fought for this third set. He could still lose it, of course, but he hasn't thrown in the towel on this match. I figured he would fight. He usually does. And he had a SP!! But I was just too tired. I'm disappointed he lost the 2nd set 6-0 though, what was that??? Reminds me of when he dropped the 2nd set to Roddick 6-0 in their 2006 US Open semifinal. Still, it was a really good event for Misha and I like his chances to end the year in the Top 10, or at least Top 15 again. I think the pressure and people talking about him making the final overwhelmed him. But perhaps this kind of lost opportunity will be what he needs to take the opportunity the next time. I also thought he had a shot at the Wimbledon final last year if not for the back injury and suckiness in the last three sets against Nadal. Also, even though I'm angry at him, Tsonga is incredibly hot. A hotter version of Ali for sure. And he's also a really nice guy. What a tournament he's had.

If you're some what attractive in women's tennis and you are very good tennis player you will get alot of attention deserved or not. Not that it matters but this could be the best looking grand slam final 4 in women's tennis history with Sharapova versus Jankovic and Ivanovic versus Hantuchova facing off against each other.

Sadly, those four never got their due in the sexxxiness stakes, overshadowed as they were by the ravishing form of Nathalie Tauzita.

Stefanie was not flattering early in her career, and was a quiet person.
Now, though, total MILF. She looks crazy good for nearly 40.
