Another Canadian girl named Sarah Lotto must have won the lotto because she didn't show up.

So Cohen-Aloro, like Julia Cohen, is already past her prime? Note to parents of Cohens: try your kiddies on golf! ;D
So what have you got against these Sweetings, Birbyn?

Wow, thanks so much, Brinyi Whatever happened to Todor Enev? I don't think his name rings any bell. Then, of course, tennis was non-existant to me 5 years ago :lust: Enev was a very good junior, but he has been slogging away at the Challenger level with little success. Too bad, Bulgarian men's tennis needs some good news.

From juniortennis.com, the Drop Shot Dragonette? Monica Niculescu (1) suffered from more than a little jet lag when she fought off Vania King in an astonishing four hours and ten minutes, 6-4; 3-6; 7-5, to advance to the girl's 18 second round. It's the longest match she ever played. lots lof serve-volleying there I guess The number one seed, who arrived here from Romania just three days ago, played a mind game as much as a tennis match. She hit to the middle of the court, to cut off any possible angles before rushing in, or she used the drop shot with devastating ease, and lobbed to send her opponent scurrying to the back court. "She's a difficult player and I knew it would be tough today," said Monica, recognizing Vania's ability. "I am so tired and I am happy that I win." Two months ago Monica had lessons to hit flat on the forehand side, which worked well in the first set but it cracked under pressure afterwards, and she reverted back to her old standby; a very unorthodox heavy slice. "It's not my game," she said. "For six years all the time slice and I want to change but it didn't work today." News of a possible upset buzzed around the Bollettieri Academy as worried officials peered at their watches. "Nobody chips and drop shots as much as she does," said Vania, disappointed at not taking advantage of serving with a break at 4-3 in the third set. "I had never played anyone like her before." Vania admitted to being hindered by a sore right thigh muscle. "I felt it at the end of the second set," she explained. " I thought maybe I could play it out, but I couldn't jump off my serve." Games went 4-all then 5-all before the Romanian broke serve at 6-5, and won the match with another ruthless drop shot. Last year Monica reached the girl's 18 singles final as a qualifier, and now she returns as the number one seed. "It's progress," she smiled. "It feels good but I have to play better."

okay, the real Pablo is hotter I think the real reason for the breakup was Kim wanted a guy who weighed more than she did. Both fill the bill that was quite a hop from the new "Geezer thread" to here, for a geezer that is

15 year old Donald Young (2) is through to the second round after edging out Mateusz Kowalczyk of Poland. The American had to pull out all the stops in the second set to win 6-2; 7-5. "I was very confident in the first set and he was missing a lot but I couldn't see his serve on the far side," said Donald. "The sun was low and in my eyes and then he starting acing me and going for winners." The boy's 18 singles first round match was scheduled to start in the morning at 11:00am but was pushed back with the backlog of matches until the early afternoon.
The match attracted quite a crowd, as the Polish player's followers were screaming with delight whenever he made a point. However, the number two seed erased three break chances against him, serving at 5-all in the second set and as a sign of a true champion, he threw in a couple of big serves on the third deuce, to hold. On the change over, Donald came out early, waiting for his opponent and eager to play, while Mateusz appeared to be dragging his heels. Continuing to put the pressure on with his relentless focus and accuracy, the leftie forced a couple of backhand errors for two match points at 15-40, followed by a forehand sprayed wide to break for the match.
Content to control the points from the baseline, Donald smiled, "I need to work on coming in a bit more then I wouldn't be so tired."
