I was litteraly crying of laughter watching this video. It's like a parody of women's tennis taken to the extreme.

That's a good win for young Alicia. Haddad Maia was a point away from a WTA QF last week.

16-year-old Chirico won the Banana Bowl. US kids getting better on clay?
Boys' winner was Johan Sebastien Tatlot of France, also 16.

Mayo sounds awesome, though I worry how far that sort of game can go...well, I guess Vinci's in the top 20, but Hibi might have to be prepared for her rise to be just as slow.

Remember Sharapova's cousin, Daria? She's now 18, and her tennis career never made it off the ground. And somehow, though it's hard to imagine she never acccepted money for tennis gear, tuition at Bollettieri's, etc, she apparently is still regarded as an amateur, because she'll be playing for Southern Methodist Univ. this fall. June 4, 2013 DALLAS (SMU) --- The SMU Women's Tennis recruiting class is ranked No. 13 nationally according to TennisRecruting.net; the highest ranking in program history. The highly-touted [sic ] 2013 signees for second-year Head Coach Kati Gyulai include Anna Anderson, Macie Elliott, Daria Sharapova, Rosalie Willig and Mary Wright.

Okay, here's the USO WC scoop for the Nationals:
Nearly 400 girls aged 16 and 18 and under will play for the title of National Champion, as well as a Wild Card entry into the singles main draw of the US Open Women’s Championships (for the 18s Champion) and a Wild Card into the US Open Junior Championships (for the 16s Champion). The 18s Doubles Champions will also receive a Wild Card into the main draw of the US Open Women’s Doubles competition.

Meanwhile, remember Usue Arconada, the 14-year-old who won a Q match in DC? She played here, but in the 16s, seeded 15th; she lost in R16.

I wanted Duval to win again, too. How discouraging to go one worse, when you're about to leave juniors! Anyway, Vickery saved the day, and I'm very happy for her. She must have won the doubles, too, since on Twitter she said she'll be in the USO MD in both singles & dubs. Not bad!

Taylor Townsend pulled out of Jr USO because she says she's done with juniors. I think unior tennis is probably better than it used to be, with young pros allowed to play now, but still it's not like playing in pro events. So, good for her.

Junior boys' SFs feature zero US players, so I guess that's the last we'll hear about them over here. Coric of CRO will play top seed Zverev of GER, and Garin of Chile will play AUS Kokkinakis.
Junior girls' SF lineup is intriguing: young Tornado Alicia Black will face off against German Antonia Lottner, who eliminated top seed Bencic today. and Ana Konjuh will face Mayo Hibi.
