Didn't Brengle receive a slew of USTA wild cards for a while, until it became clear that she wasn't about to win matches any time soon?

Probably she did. There just didn't seem to be anyone else coming along right then.

Me You won the 25k in Korea. Korea strikes back!
Eleni Daniilidou won that event in UK I didn't care about at all. I don't like grass tournaments - I have the Patty Schnyder kind of attitude towards grass...
I'll be able to watch the final of a 25k in Slovenia on a TV! There's 16yo Nastja Kolar in the final, apparently our biggest talent, so I have to see whether there's really anything to brag about.

Excellent! Me, You are the best Eleni!!! I always liked her; sure has taken a while for her to get back in gear, so this is great to see. And we definitely want a Kolar report. Speaking of anti-grass types, here's the draw for the Marseille 100K, being held this week just for them: (1)Anastasia Pivovarova (RUS) v (wc)Elixane Lechemia (FRA) (wc)Estelle Cascino (FRA) v Q (wc)Victoria Larriere (FRA) v Q (8)Mandy Minella (LUX) v Audrey Bergot (FRA) (4)Pauline Parmentier (FRA) v Q Nina Bratchikova (RUS) v Madalina Gojnea (ROU) Estrella Cabeza-Candela (ESP) v Aleksandra Wozniak (CAN) (5)Carla Suarez Navarro (ESP) v Sheng-Nan Sun (CHN) (6)Sophie Ferguson (AUS) v Julia Cohen (USA) Silvia Soler-Espinosa (ESP) v Q Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino (ESP) v Laura Thorpe (FRA) (3)Irina-Camelia Begu (ROU) v (wc)Julie Coin (FRA) (7)Corinna Dentoni (ITA) v Natalie Piquion (FRA) Olivia Sanchez (FRA) v Ajla Tomljanovic (CRO) Tatjana Malek (GER) v Anais Laurendon (FRA) (2)Anastasia Yakimova (BLR) v Leticia Costas-Moreira (ESP)

I'm still getting over that final. It was ghastly... Zec-P might as well be the worst player that ever managed to set a foot in the top 100. She has NO game and NO mental strength.
Kolar was slightly better - her, mostly flat forehand can be a weapon at times, the backhand is bad and only gets rolled in the court, the serve is unreliable and prone to double faulting. She successfully hit many dropshots, mostly due to Zec-P standing miles behind the baseline. She has a very poor attitude on court, one of many thrown rackets almost hit a poor ballgirl, who, after almost being hit, actually picked it up and brought it back to Kolar. Kept screaming at herself and complaining throughout the match, as well. The final was an error-fest from the start till the end and Kolar never really showed any promise in the match. Was just a little less bad than Zec.
There was the 4th game of the first set which lasted 24 minutes! The match lasted 2h 30 minutes and ended with the score 75 64.

Mi Yoo and everyone we know Grass events are so rare that they have interest value for the novelty alone. Reka-Luca Jani's title run in the Prerov 25K looked impressive, four bagels along the way including one in the final over one of the hapless Pliskovas.

Indeed. The TV commentator kept repeating that as well, yet Kolar never even got a warning! Probably because the finalists were both home players and training partners. Her behavior was inexcusable and would've been severly punished if played anywhere else, though.

I always remember the famous default of Tim Henman, of all people, at Wimbledon. Of course the ball he hit in frustration actually did hit a ballgirl, and Kolar's racket only "almost" hit one. Still the"unsportsmanlike conduct" rule applies and she'll probably find that out soon enough if this is the way she usually acts. By the way in the Henman case, which was in a doubles match, opponent Jeff Tarango opined that the ball was hit so hard it could have killed the girl. Thanks for weighing in so objectively, Mr. Good Sport of the Ages. Meanwhile, moving along in Nottingham: QFs: (6)Petra Cetkovska (CZE) d. (1)Monica Niculescu (ROU) 64 64 (8)Tamarine Tanasugarn (THA) d. (3)Mathilde Johansson (FRA) 76(5) 62 Stephanie Dubois (CAN) d. (4)Evgeniya Rodina (RUS) 62 67(3) 63 (5)Elena Baltacha (GBR) d. I don't recognize that name, either. Though my eyes used to blur when looking over the Japanese draws in the 10K game, so maybe I did see her. Meanwhile your Queen of SLO is having a great year, and an exceptional week: Boston 50K QFs: Petra Rampre (SLO) d. Chichi Scholl (USA) 62 60 (3)Heidi El Tabakh (CAN) d. She's probably in the best form of all the Slovenians at the moment, haha. Although, I think she considers herself American after so many years in the USA. She's been there for the last 10 years or so.
Apparently this is also her second last season on the professional USTA tour - I wonder whether she could stay in the USA. Is she eligible to apply for American citizenship?
