Well as long as Portugal, Spain, Russia, Greece, France, England, Croatia, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Bulgaria, Germany, Holland, Czech Rep. and Latvia don't win I'll be happy Not much chance for happiness, is there? Your team is there, mine is not you already have one over me.

sorry Francine, but the Stam penalty was so bad that it was funny. Unless you're Dutch of course Didn't De Boer also miss a pen in that game in normal time? Westerveld Awww, I thought he was quite decent at Liverpool, made a few bad errors but who doesn't. I think Kluivert has gone rapidly downhill, he's not the same player he was a couple of years ago. I read that Van Nistelrooy had blasted the Dutch fans about their behaviour in the papers yesterday and that Seedorf will refuse to play unless he is played in his favoured position. Is this true? Sounds like things are a bit dodgy in the Dutch camp. De Boer missed tw during that match, yes. Dutch fans booed them of the field saturday and the players didn't like that, but they had it coming. I don't know if v. Nistelrooij said something about that, I only heard Stam say that if they didn't like it, they shouldn't have come. And Seedorf, I think he has said sth like that, but it was righfully ignored. Problem with the Dutch players is that their ego's are to big for them to form a real team, great individual qualities, but 11 players on the field who think they can win the cup on their own. I was there for the semi final and Guru Gullit and slow man Koeman got shown up and Van Basten missed the penalty what an irony. Ah yes v. Basten missing the penalty, he has analysed on Dutch tv a couple of days ago to help the current players, lol. I think Portugal has a pretty good team, so does Italy, they almost won that 2000 final.

Hopefully. Im still awaiting news on Rafael Benitez. I heard that if he does come then he will have a huge clearout, which is exactly what we need. Have too much deadwood in our squad. It's not deadwood, it's a forest that has been clearfelled. At least Benitez plays a style that Liverpool do except with much better technique and tactics. It's good Ranieri is back at Valencia, though the Benitez departure was about money and they were fake tears.

Yeah, I read something about that yesterday, Van Nistelrooy was saying he doesn't like how they got booed and that the fans should be behind them. But maybe if they did all act like a team as you say and forget winning it on their own, then the fans might not boo them. It happened to us in Euro 2000. Our fans booed Beckham and the rest of the team, but he was singled out mostly. I dont really remember what he did wrong but I think that the fans are much better now, 100% behind the team and definately Beckham. He was treated horribly after the World Cup too, but now he's the hero. Funny how things can change.

I'd like him to come here because as you say, he plays a similar style as to what we're used to. And he wont have a thing for buying totally useless French men (mostly) like Houllier did.

Only 36% of the people think Holland has a chance of winning the cup now, as oppose to 67% a couple of years ago. And them wining all the time doesn't really help. Wasn't Beckham the scapegoat after he was send off in the quarter final of '98? the most exentric players always get the most attention, whether ist's positive or negative it's the same here with Kluivert.

I think its the same with us, we haven't won anything for 38 years now Which is far too long for my liking! Do you believe that Holland can win it? Yes, he was. He was booed at every ground in the Premiership for ages afterwards, and got slated by the media. I can't believe how well he handled it all and now he has risen to the top and is England captain. Thats true.....I was quite happy supporting my fave England players Gerrard, Lampard and Terry and now all of a sudden they've all risen to a much higher status. Especially Gerrard. Im not quite sure what I think about it because no one really made a big deal out of them until this season. If you know what I mean.

They can win, if they play as good as they did in '98 and avoid the penalties. I've heard of those three players, but don't know where they play. English football = David Beckham here, lol. I've always liked Michael Owen, but he hasn't been playing that good lately has he? Apart from that, le me see; Scholes, Neville & Neville and Campbell come to mind.

Owen has plenty of ability probably should leave Liverpool but won't Scholes- underrated Beckham = overrated Campbell not as good as many people think, but would be one of the best English defenders.

The Nevilles are crap yes GWH lol, I would prefer to see Carragher at RB, he's underrated I think. Scholes has had an ok year. Terry is a CB if fit he will line up with Sol Campbell. Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard are Central midfielders, but it remains to be seen where Sven will play them. Looks likely that Lampard will have the attacking midfield role, Gerrard the defensive.

No, Owen shouldn't leave Liverpool. We've had a blip but we'll be back You could argue that he will improve at other clubs, but Englishmen haven't fulfilled their potential playing abroad. I think the same would happen to him if he goes.

Biggest Catholic pilgrimage site in Spain. They are begging to make the quarter or semi finals. Hope they prayed a lot then!! Yeah, that Camino de Santiago is so popular these days... the various routes are quite cool... fr some of the most beautiful cities in Europe, esp France and Spain. That is one honking huge cathedral too -- one day I'll get there myself.

England and France are probably 2 of the most hated teams France because they're successful and England because of the bad name we have. FC Basle. The name still hurts. Cowbells

I was thinking of picking an all-star team before the tournament. Just for fun. Any system will do. At least semi realistic positioning. So here it goes: (4-3-3[4-5-1] system) GK: Buffon ITA; RB: Ferreira POR; RCD: Mellberg SWE; LCD: Nesta ITA; LB: van Bronckhorst NED; RCM: Vieira FRA; LCM: Davids NED; OM: Zidane FRA; RF: Nedved CZE; CF: Morientes ESP; LF: Henry FRA Whatch'all think? I'm really unsure about the left-back, but otherwise this is an ass-kicking team, n'est-ce pas?

Hmmm, I never know who to put in teams like these lol. Buffon Terry Nesta Zidane Figo Gerrard Lampard Henry Morientes errr biassed, moi? I really do think that Frank and Stevie will shine, maybe not John as he is injured but fully fit, Id put him in. Left out RB and a LB because there really isnt anyone who stands out in those positions imo.

This is a thread I can't really contribute to (I'm sure you're all crying) but just wanted to say that this thread has been quite amusing. If someone can direct me to a site with all the countries and their players I'd much appreciate it. I don't know much about football, ILR being my primary tutor, but I'll try to pick it up as we go along Maybe FSW will play some of the matches over here.
