Hardenne stuns Sharapova to take number one spot I'd hardly call Justine beating Maria a "stunning" victory. I'd use "stunning" to describe Razzano's win over Hingis, or something along those lines. Especially since Justine has a better Slam record this season than Queen Masha.

But it was stunning to the media, who have already decided that Maria is far superior to all the other no-account peons of the Tour.

And the final is underway (though the media may have all departed along with Maria)!

Maybe we are in for a classic women's tennis break-a-thon.

As is her habit, Justine takes the first set 64. In 50 minutes.

Justine wins the first set 6-4. Sigh. Amelie's toast.

let's try and guess the score for the next two sets: 2-6 5-7

The trend I notice with JHH, especially in this championship, and even throughout the year, is the brilliant first set, and the very obvious drop in the 2nd. She loses her concentration so easily. Time to break the pattern, little Jujubee!

Justine wins the first set 6-4. Sigh. Amelie's toast. Justine ALWAYS wins the first set. Unfortunately, Amelie and everyone else know that it means nada.

Justine would NEVER let herself lose to Amelie twice in the same week.

Time to break the pattern, little Jujubee! She already did that Janie. She lost her concentration in the first set twice already

And already, Justine is up a break in the second.
I predict: 6-4, 6-0.

Justine would NEVER let herself lose to Amelie twice in the same week. Not if she has any say in it. But sometimes Amelie plays at a level that is out of this world. I just hope she can't bring that level today.

And already, Justine is up a break in the second. I predict: 6-4, 6-0. I know you're just trying to jinx the little one. Anyway, AM just broke back, so you lose. Though the jinx may be working.

lost the break. Seriously there is always some weird BP conversion shit that happens in matches between these two. Justine gets always lots of BPs and Amelie always gets very few, either Justine converts them all and stomps over Amelie or she converts like 2 out of 10 and then just simply runs out of BPs by the middle of the second set while Amelie converts almost 100% of her opportunities and wins the match.

I think the whole match depends on how AM serves. I hope she will start to feel some fatigue soon!

Justine regained the break. So the second set won't be a complete walk in the park, which is good. It'd be nice to end the year with a good, competitive two-setter between the world's top two players.
Oops. It's 3-3.

Amelie is only winning 48% of her first-serve points. But she's saved 10 of 14 bp's against her, that's why she's still in this.

They probably have good points at the end of games to break but crappy errors in the middle to get those BPs
