I was thinking the same thing. How could she march so smoothly through adolescence with nary a blip on the emotional radar? So it's happening now instead.
One thing that sailed right by was that just a day or two ago the news came out that her dad would be her coach for the USO. Maybe a day of practice with him showed her that that was just too much. I almost always believe player's injury tales, and probably she does have some shoulder pain, the way Henin always used to, but I have a hard time believing she has Slam-withdrawal-level bursitis that suddenly developed right after the name debacle, and one day after the news that her dad would be her USO coach.

I don't think there is anything unusual going on. She was injured but didn't want to disclose it, and waited until the last minute to withdraw because she still had hopes she could play. Meanwhile business has to go on as usual (the Sugarpova marketing, the media presence, coaching announcements, etc).
I think it's just a coincidence if many weird things happened in a short period of time. There isn't enough evidence at this point to suggest she is losing it.

Maybe it is all a coincidence. But my radar has been on alert ever since the Bot's tacky, super-uncharacteristic outing of Serena's relationship with her married coach at a public press conference. Luckily message boards are the perfect forum for speculation; let professional journalists worry about evidence.

True. Still, let's blame it all on that guy she's dating.

It wasn't tacky (as it was a quality / hilarious swipe). Bitchy, yes.
I also don't think there's enough evidence to suggest craziness. Surely this would have happened a few years ago.

It was a bitchy response to a bitchy provocation (for which Serena had already apologized, which makes it extra-bitchy) -- but because she pointedly dragged in the man's wife and especially his children, I also call it tacky. But the easiest way to characterize that lapse is that it fell way, way outside Ma$ha.corp's usual "classy".

It was high school. Surprising that she stooped to Serena's toddler levels of behavior considering it's corporatepova but not tacky.

That response was only different because it was a story she knew would spread mainstream, if for only briefly. Ma$ha is often catty in interviews, but only with other players and tennis stuff that nobody cares about but us.

No, it was different because Serena was keeping her relationship under wraps, at least as much as possible. She certainly wasn't discussing it, and still hasn't to this day that I know of, and sports journalists were respecting the couple's privacy. And Ma$ha.corp blew it wide open. To me this is far different from her typical catty "well she's back in Poland now, isn't she". But I guess everyone has a different view of what is tacky behavior.
