I mean, this isn't the usual Venus shedding errors before getting it together - CSN is pushing her all over the court and whacking her groundstrokes and coming to the net and hitting some amazing (single-handed!) BH DTL winners, and Venus is having to play some incredible defence and passing shots. Which is probably what will get her through the match, but CSN just came through a multi-deuce game to hold her serve for 1-1 in the third...

Yeah, she's not a pusher at all. She's an all-court player with weapons on both wings, not afraid of the net, great point construction at times. Watching her, I don't understand why she's done nothing outside of the RG run.

4-1 Venus. 'Tis looking grim, my friends.
I kinda want Blake far, far away from the top ten since he will never, eeeever, win a major.

I want Blake far away from the top 10 because I hate his brainless game, and the breathless way the media treats him as a legit contender.
Venus is winning b/c she's hitting the lines herself and CSN can't consistently cope with her serve.

Well, the American media has to play up their guys, I guess. But I thought I heard Carillo and someone talking down his chances the other day. So I don't know if they're that delusional.
CSN has two breakpoints to get back on serve! And she did it! 4-5!

Wow, from 2-5 in the third down, she wins, saving a matchpoint along the way. This tournament just got interesting. I guess all that Venus-MJMS fact-checking was for naught. So. Dementieva. The draw is wide-open for you, and if you get Serena in the semis, so what, you smoked her just last week. Now is the time if there ever will be a time. She wins this or never ever wins one.

Watch Demented lose to Stosur now.
The *2-5 game was key. Until then, both were playing very well, but CSN just wasn't keeping pace with Venus. In that game, she just reeled off some amazing winners, and Venus was visibly less confident and more tentative afterwards, especially when trying to serve it out.

Well done Carla! Very smart play, in total contrast to Venus who had no plan whatsoever.
