What, did just one reporter show up for Carla's post-match PC? Pathetic. This is the whole PC:
Q. Tell us what the win meant to you.
CARLA SUAREZ NAVARRO: For me is a very good match. So I feel very good. And now I'm very good, so...
Q. What kind of strategy or tactics did you prepare before the match?
CARLA SUAREZ NAVARRO: (Translated from Spanish) Nothing special in tactics. Just to go on court, to try to be positive, to try to do my best.
In the first set she never thought that she's going to lose. She was still thinking positive all of the match.
Q. Are you normally as attacking as you were tonight throughout the match?
CARLA SUAREZ NAVARRO: (Translated from Spanish) You must be aggressive during all the match because, if not, she's going to take control of you.

Since I know we were all wondering this, here's the MJMS-CSN H2H: 2008 BOGOTA CLAY (O) Q- Q C. SUAREZ NAVARRO 6-1 7-6(5) I hope this means the Cult will never diss Bogota agan.

Wow, CSN. I knew she wasn't a pusher. I was astonished when I saw her play in Fed Cup, and she was inside the baseline.
SexyDomi for the SF. Yeah, come on.

I was impressed with CSN when I saw her play at RG last year - managed to catch highlights of her loss to Jankovic as well. She's talented and she showed it tonight, though I didn't expect it. The backhand was on fire.

CSN is definitely more aggressive than your typical Espanette, but she didn't exactly cover herself in glory post-RG. I think that, not "she's just a clay-courter," is what makes this win quite surprising.

I think that, not "she's just a clay-courter," is what makes this win quite surprising. Upon review of the evidence, she is an itty-bitty thing and that will probably hold her back. She also looks like a young Carla from Cheers.

Wow, if I had been watching this live, I'm sure I would have abandoned the match at 4-1 VW in the 3rd. You just don't see smallfry like CSN come back from a score like that against one of the favorites to win the tournament. I hope CSN can inspire other low-ranked players to fight like mad to the end -- of course, they don't all have the game she's got.

Actually, watching the match in full ... Venus really donated the last couple games. After missing that backhand return long on MP, she gave away the last three games. Carla stayed on her, but it was surprising to see Venus just collapse like that.
Anyway, enough about her! She's gone! Whoo!

Yeah, that really surprised me, watching Vee fall apart like that after her MP. But even so, we often see the better player's choke followed by the lower player's even worse choke, and Carla didn't let herself go down that road. That would have been a terrible ending to the match, if Vee had been rewarded for that meltdown with a win.

That match was when this tournament started getting fun.
