Murray and Nadal start, followed by the Streak and the Fed.
Murray is talking about funny things:
"I had about nine pills for breakfast, nine in the evening and then more before I go on court. I've taken close to 20 pills a day which is a lot. In fact, I've taken so many I've probably got more in me than Ozzy Osbourne."
"I hadn't tested my ankle out. I was just going to give it a shot. Once I realized how it was feeling I managed to play through it.
"They were very, very strong pills. I took two more today. I feel a million bucks now. I am sure when they wear off I won't."
So that's bizarre.

Also, there's this Murray said: "I bit into a baguette the day before and broke one of my teeth, then I woke up in the middle of the night with a sore throat so that meant rushing off to get the tooth fixed after my quarter-final. It's just been one thing after another but I've managed to get through it and I'm still in the tournament." Hoping Anduh and Roger win tomorrow. Really excited for tomorrow's matches. Hope the conditions are better.

I have a fear for tomorrow. It is that Fed will lose. Not really that he will lose, but I fear he will Fed-error his way out of a match he should win. I fear an agonizing loss. If Novak comes out and just routines him ala the Dubai final, I can accept that. If somehow Roger fritters away a match he might have won, that will hurt.
Despite what has happened this year, I believe in Fed's chances. Novak's had, what, five days off? I don't think he'll be rusty but Rog has a chance to sneak up on him. Plus, and I hate to sound superstitious but whatever, Novak is due to lose eventually. 43 in a row is unbelievable, but everybody must lose one day.
On the other hand, I have been so impressed by the Streak and it has been the most fun thing to watch in tennis in a long time. It also doesn't seem quite right that Vilas has the all-time winning streak record. I wouldn't be sad to see Djokovic supplant him.
On the other side, Nadal is the obvious favorite, even though Murray can really play on anything and everybody knows that now. I think Andy has about a 25% chance of winning. He has to do a lot of things right. But one thing I like about him is that completely awful tennis in one set never deters him from coming right back in the next one.
Men's tennis has never been better, has it?

I think I'm evil. I want the streak to end.

I'm with you. I think Roger really has a chance in this match and with all the attention on the streak and Nadal's loss of form, he's quietly made his way through the draw playing great tennis and for once there's no pressure or expectation of him. I have a strong feeling he'll end the streak tomorrow. I like what I've seen of Roger in Paris.

I take it you didn't see the Monfils match, then.

I did. He wasn't spectacular, but it was more than enough to get the job done. The Fed-Errors were not as bad as they would have been to warrant concern or panic.

I wouldn't mind Hobak winning the French open, because I don't think he will win Wimbledon and the US OPEN.
Novak's game, as good as he is when attacking, is still a lot about retrieving, making incredible gets, doing that Kim Clijsters split, and counterpunching.
On the faster surfaces he won't be able to do that that much.
I think Wimbly goes to Fed, Nadal or Murray and the Us Open to Fed or Pony.
I wouldn't want Novak to win the 4 Slams, I don't like his game. His strokes and playing style are too normal, standard and modern for me. He doesn't have a very individual style. He is just the best normal modern baseliner.

Haggis was running like a Cheetah (or cheater) with his injured ankle, I don't want to hear any more bullshit from Murray.
I would like to see Murray in the final only if he beats Rafa easily, that would show me that he would be able to play Novak very close like he did a few weeks ago. But if he doesnt beat Rafa easily, he will win only to get destroyed in the final. I would rather see Rafa in the final in that case.

I want a Nadal df Djokovic final, but would totally watch any of possible final lineup... aside from Fed-Murray. I will not make that mistake again.

Murray grabbing his thigh. And now has a breakpoint to level.
And what a point! Fantastic rally to get back to deuce.

I'd say that Murray has about 25 minutes max to turn this around before we're headed to beatdown city. He cannot come back from 2 sets down. He's not winning this opening set. If he is to have a chance, he needs to do something soon. If not, Roger and Novak will be playing quite soon.

On the faster surfaces he won't be able to do that that much. Maybe we've just been seeing that game from him because he's been playing on clay for the past couple of months? I suspect he's more than able to play a more attacking style when appropriate. He's already proved his capability on US hard courts.

I just can't with Rafa, I just can't... He was 5-1 up at one point.
Is the wind as bad as it seems?
And those Russian commentators rooting against Nadal are not helping.

Ha, anticlimax. Come back from 1-4 to 4-5 and break points, lose the set anyway. Rafa really taking the piss with time between points

Murray had two BPs to get back to 5-5. Not taking them might hurt?

Tough for those Russian commentators! Stat from the announcers here: Rafa has only ever lost ONE Slam match after winning the first set.

Ferrer in New York in 2007, right?
Murray has an opening here at 15-30.

Murray is the better player on court at the moment but he isn't taking his chances. 15-40 in the last game slipped away. Now a love hold. He'd love the break right now.

Meanwhile, in the Juniors, the Great French Hope Caroline Garcia has thrown in 12 DFs so far in her SF match against the Tunisian player, Ons Jabeur. Who coaches these kids to play this way?
